Film Studios Setting & Allied Mazdoor Union (FSSAMU) is a film industry worker's trade union in Mumbai, India. Annual day celebration of FSSAMU will be held on the 26 January every year on occasion of Republic Day. Ashok Dubey is the current chairman of the union. Before that Ghatkopar, Mumbai MLA Ram Kadam was the chairman. Formerly this post was held by Mithun Chakraborty. Gangeshwar Lal Shrivastava is the current general secretary of the union along with Rakesh Maurya as treasurer. "Film Studios Setting and Allied Mazdoor Union" was established in the year 1983, which was formed for all the workers who wanted to work in the production house and film industry. The Indian Film & Television Directors' Association (IFTDA) is an entertainment guild that represents the interests of film and television directors in India. It was founded as the Indian Film Directors' Association (IFDA) in 1960, before adopting today's name in 2007 and welcoming television directors into the guild. Ashoke Pandit is the current president, a role that has been held in the past by K.A. Abbas, Madhusudan, Basu Bhattacharya, Ramesh Saigal, Mahesh Kaul, and Mohan Segal. Before IFDA was founded, it was known as the Assistant Directors' Association, and the decision to begin including directors led to its founding in 1960. In 1969 IFDA began taking a stance against imports of foreign films, supporting a tax that would encourage films with smaller budgets and higher quality. Ashoke Pandit
Ashoke Pandit (born 11 May 1966) is an Indian filmmaker. He currently serves as the president of the Indian Film & Television Directors' Association. Career Pandit began his career acting in plays while attending Narsee Monjee College, Mumbai. After graduating, he continued directing plays at the college, until he was eventually offered a sponsorship from the Indian People's Theatre Association. Pandit worked as an associate director for Raman Kumar, Kundan Shah, and Manjul Sinha, until rising to his own prominence as the producer and director of the comedy TV series ''Filmi Chakkar''. He would later go on to direct the TV shows ''Tere Mere Sapne'' and ''Colgate Top Ten''. In 1999, he won a Radio and TV Advertising Practitioners' Association of India award for best picture for his documentary ''Sharnarthi Apne Desh Mein'', a 40-minute film detailing the plight of Kashmiri Pandit refugees during 1989-1990. Trade Unions in India are registered and file annual returns under the Trade Union Act (1926). Statistics on Trade Unions are collected annually by the Labour Bureau of the Ministry of Labour, Government of India. As per the latest data, released for 2012, there were 16,154 trade unions which had a combined membership of 9.18 million (based on returns from 15 States – out of a total of 28 States and 9 Union Territories).
