Factor V (pronounced factor five) is a protein of the coagulation system, rarely referred to as proaccelerin or labile factor. In contrast to most other coagulation factors, it is not enzymatically active but functions as a cofactor. Deficiency leads to predisposition for hemorrhage, while some mutations (most notably factor V Leiden) predispose for thrombosis. Genetics The gene for factor V is located on the first chromosome (1q24). It is genomically related to the family of multicopper oxidases, and is homologous to coagulation factor VIII. The gene spans 70 kb, consists of 25 exons, and the resulting protein has a relative molecular mass of approximately 330kDa. Structure Factor V protein consists of six domains: A1-A2-B-A3-C1-C2. The A domains are homologous to the A domains of the copper-binding protein ceruloplasmin, and form a triangular as in that protein. Flux Balance Analysis
Flux balance analysis (FBA) is a mathematical method for simulating metabolism in genome-scale reconstructions of metabolic networks. In comparison to traditional methods of modeling, FBA is less intensive in terms of the input data required for constructing the model. Simulations performed using FBA are computationally inexpensive and can calculate steady-state metabolic fluxes for large models (over 2000 reactions) in a few seconds on modern personal computers. The related method of metabolic pathway analysis seeks to find and list all possible pathways between metabolites. FBA finds applications in bioprocess engineering to systematically identify modifications to the metabolic networks of microbes used in fermentation processes that improve product yields of industrially important chemicals such as ethanol and succinic acid. Fernando Von Arb
Fernando von Arb or simply FVA (born 17 January 1953) is a Swiss guitarist, songwriter and producer. He is best known for being the lead guitarist of the Swiss hard rock band Krokus. Career In the early 1970s, Von Arb was playing in the band Montezuma when he was recruited by Chris von Rohr and Tommy Kiefer to join their band, Krokus. He joined the group in time for their second album, '' To You All'' as the rhythm guitarist. In the 1970s, Von Arb undertook the task of finding a powerful voice to front the band, encountering trouble until he discovered Maltese-born Marc Storace to lead his band's vocals for years to come. Although Von Arb and Storace have been apart for a few albums, they are still in Krokus to this day. ''Ferrari Virtual Academy'' (or ''FVA'') is a sim racing video game for Microsoft Windows developed by Kunos Simulazioni and released in September 2010. The simulation allows the player to drive a Ferrari against the clock at a race track. There are no other vehicles to race against in real time. In January 2015, the servers (needed even for single player gaming) were down for some time, with Ferrari ending its support for the game. As of February 2015, the simulation can be used, however it can no longer be purchased. Gameplay The game offers two modes: Free Practice in which driving aids such as traction control, assisted braking, visible driving line and automatic transmission are permitted and the player can decide how much fuel should be in the car; and Hot Lap mode in which no driving aids are allowed, the fuel amount is fixed and reset each lap. Festival Voix d’Amériques (FVA) was an annual festival in Montreal that was held from 2002 to 2011, which was dedicated to oral literature, text performance and spoken word. It was presented by Les Filles électriques. The Fox Valley Association is an athletic conference comprising ten high schools located within the Fox Valley region of northeastern Wisconsin. The management of the conference is vested in the principals of the member schools, who determine the rules governing the eligibility of athletes and the schedules.
