''FTHC'' (initialism for ''Frank Turner Hardcore'') is the ninth studio album by English singer-songwriter Frank Turner, released on 11 February 2022. Background and production After tour plans for the rest of 2020 were cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the ensuing lockdown measures, Turner engaged in a weekly series of acoustic livestreams from his home which he called "Independent Venue Love", the goal of which was to raise money for grassroots venues that were struggling due to the lack of patronage caused by the pandemic and lockdown. During these streams, he began performing new material alongside his previously released back catalogue. Among these was "The Gathering", a track about longing for the return of live music that would later go on to be released as the album's lead single in May 2021. Francis Edward Turner (born 28 December 1981) is an English Punk rock, punk and Folk music, folk singer-songwriter from Meonstoke, Hampshire. He began his career as the vocalist of post-hardcore band Million Dead, then embarked upon a primarily acoustic-based solo career following the band's split in 2005. In the studio and during live performances, Turner is accompanied by his backing band, The Sleeping Souls, which consists of Ben Lloyd (guitar, mandolin), Tarrant Anderson (bass), Matt Nasir (piano, mandolin) and Callum Green (drums). ''Undefeated'' is the tenth studio album by English singer-songwriter Frank Turner. It was released on 3 May 2024 through Xtra Mile Recordings. Background Turner wrote, recorded and produced ''Undefeated'' in his home studio on Mersea Island, backed by his long-time band The Sleeping Souls: Ben Lloyd (guitar), Tarrant Anderson (bass), Callum Green (drums) and Matt Nasir (piano). It is also the first album of his without a big label involved in over a decade. The artist refers to the album as his "first back home with a global independent label setup" and celebrates the freedom of working as an "independent artist". Ilan Rubin
Ilan Rubin (born July 7, 1988) is an American musician, producer, songwriter, composer, and artist. He is known primarily for playing drums with bands such as Nine Inch Nails, Paramore, Lostprophets, Angels & Airwaves and Danny Elfman. In 2008, he formed The New Regime, where he sings and plays all instruments in the studio and plays guitar with a band for live performances. In 2021, Ilan released music for the first time under his name. His debut single "Talk Talk Talk" was remixed by Phantogram. Jason McGerr
Jason McGerr (born July 19, 1974) is an American musician, best known as the drummer for the indie rock band Death Cab for Cutie. Musical career Early years McGerr was born and raised in Bellingham, Washington. At age ten, he began learning to play the drums in order to get into his middle school band. By 16, he was playing paid gigs at local bars. In a 2018 interview with KEXP, he stated that he knew he wanted to do drumming professionally when he heard Led Zeppelin's "Black Dog" for the first time at 14. He was an avid fisher growing up, and worked at H&H Sporting Goods, a local fly shop, throughout high school. Scott Hutchison
Scott John Hutchison (20 November 1981 – 9 May 2018) was a Scottish singer, songwriter, guitarist and artist. He was the founding member and primary songwriter of the indie rock band Frightened Rabbit, with whom he recorded five studio albums, and created the artwork for each release. Hutchison was also a member of the musical collective The Fruit Tree Foundation, and released one solo album under the moniker Owl John. His last musical project was the indie "supergroup" Mastersystem, featuring Frightened Rabbit bandmate and brother Grant alongside members of Editors (band), Editors and Minor Victories. Matt Nasir
Matt Nasir is an English multi-instrumental musician, based in London, England. He currently plays keyboards in Frank Turner's band The Sleeping Souls and is a member of the London-based rock band, The Pressure Room. He has also previously played in Andy Yorke's live band and is known as the 'Archivist' for his remixing work. Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls headlined Wembley Arena in April 2012 and played at the Opening Ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Nasir also features as the guitarist in a side-project, Mïngle Härde, with Frank Turner and Frank's former Million Dead bandmate, Ben Dawson. Nasir plays a baritone guitar in Mïngle Härde. Omicron (B.1.1.529) is a Variants of SARS-CoV-2, variant of SARS-CoV-2 first reported to the World Health Organization (WHO) by the Network for Genomics Surveillance in South Africa on 24 November 2021. Frightened Rabbit were a Scottish indie rock band from Selkirk, formed in 2003. Initially a solo project for vocalist and guitarist Scott Hutchison, the final lineup of the band consisted of Hutchison, his brother Grant (drums), Billy Kennedy (guitar, bass), Andy Monaghan (guitar, keyboards), and Simon Liddell (guitar).
