The 1994 FIVB Volleyball World League was the fifth edition of the annual men's international volleyball tournament, played by 12 countries from 6 May to 30 July 1994. The Final Round was held in Milan, Italy. Andrea Giani
Andrea Giani (; born 22 April 1970) is an Italian professional volleyball coach and former player who serves as head coach for the France national team and the Polish PlusLiga team, ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle. Giani achieved numerous successes in the 1990s, including three World Championships with his national team. He was an all-rounder able to play both as an outside hitter and as a middle blocker, but he played several times as an opposite spiker too. In 2008, Giani was inducted into the International Volleyball Hall of Fame. Career Giani's father, Dario, was a rower who took part in the 1964 Summer Olympics for Italy. After having trained with his father, now a rowing coach, Andrea tried for brief period as a football player. In 1985 the 14-year-old Giani began his career as a volleyball player for the local team of Sabaudia, in the Southern Latium, where he lived. FIVB Volleyball World League
The FIVB Volleyball World League was an annual international men's volleyball competition. Created in 1990, it was the longest and richest of all the international events organized by the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB). The women's version of the competition was called FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix. This event should not be confused with the other international volleyball competitions, the World Championship, the World Cup and the World Grand Champions Cup. From 2018, the World League and World Grand Prix was replaced by the men's and women's Nations League and men's and women's Challenger Cup. Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the program at the Atlanta 1996 Summer Olympics. Final Round
A single-elimination knockout, or sudden-death tournament is a type of elimination tournament where the loser of a match-up is immediately eliminated from the tournament. Each winner will play another in the next round, until the final match-up, whose winner becomes the tournament champion(s). Some match-ups may be a single match or several, for example two-legged ties in European sports or best-of series in North American pro sports. Forum Di Assago
Unipol Forum (formerly the FilaForum, DatchForum and Mediolanum Forum; known as the Forum di Milano in events where commercial naming rights are prohibited) is an indoor sports arena that is located in Assago, a small town 3 km outside Milan, Italy. The arena has a seating capacity of 12,800 and is primarily used for basketball, ice hockey, tennis and live concerts. Final Four
In sports, the final four is the last four teams remaining in a playoffs, playoff tournament. Usually the final four compete in the two games of a single-elimination tournament's semi-final (penultimate) round. Of these teams, the two who win in the semi-final round play another single-elimination game whose winner is the tournament champion. In some tournaments, the two teams that lose in the semi-final round compete for third place in a third place playoff, consolation game. Kim Se-jin (volleyball)
Kim Se-jin (; born January 30, 1974) is a retired volleyball player from South Korea, who currently coaches the Ansan OK Savings Bank in V-League. As a player Kim competed with the South Korean national team from 1992 to 2003 and took part in the 1992, 1996 and 2000 Olympics. At the 1994 World League Kim was honored as best spiker with the 52.08% success percentage in attack (349 successful attacks for 670 attempts). Since 2013, he has been managing the Ansan OK Savings Bank volleyball team as head coach, winning the V-League twice in the 2014-15 and 2015–16 season. Lyubomir Eftimov Ganev (; born 6 October 1965 in Ruse), a.k.a. Lyubo Ganev or Lubo, is a Bulgarian former volleyball player and the President of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation since 2020. He was born in Rousse, where he started his career. He played with CSKA for seven years and was five times a champion with the team.
