FIBA Asia Challenge
The FIBA Asia Challenge, previously known as the FIBA Asia Stanković Cup between 2004 and 2010 and FIBA Asia Cup from 2012 to 2014, is a basketball tournament which takes place every two years between teams from Asia. History The second tournament was supposed to be held in Damascus, Syria in 2006, but got cancelled due to political situation. The champion is given an automatic berth to the following year's FIBA Asia Championship, while the next top three finishers would all receive additional berths for their FIBA Asia subzones. During the FIBA Asia Central Board meeting last January 30-31, 2016, it was decided that this year's edition is the first step in the process of identifying the qualifiers for the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup (supposed to be the new name of the Asian Championship), the first-ever Continental Cup played jointly by teams from Asia and Oceania, thus renaming this tournament as FIBA Asia Challenge. 2010 FIBA Asia Stanković Cup
2010 FIBA Asia Stanković Cup was the 3rd FIBA Asia Stankovic Cup. The basketball tournament of FIBA Asia was held in Beirut, Lebanon from 7 August to 15 August 2010, in Ghazir Club Court, involving 10 national teams from Asia. The 3rd FIBA Asia Stankovic Cup was the first FIBA Asia event hosted in Lebanon for national teams. The 3rd FIBA Asia Stankovic Cup was the qualifying event for the 26th FIBA Asia Championship in 2011, to be hosted in Wuhan, Hubei, China, which in turn will be the qualifying event for 2012 London Olympics. The 3rd FIBA Asia Stankovic Cup winner automatically qualified for the FIBA Asia Championship in 2011. 2016 FIBA Asia Challenge
The 2016 FIBA Asia Challenge was the 6th FIBA Asia Challenge, an international basketball tournament of FIBA Asia which was hosted by Iran from 9–18 September 2016. This tournament served as the first step in determining the process of the qualifiers for the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup which will feature teams from both FIBA Asia and FIBA Oceania for the first time. Iran are the defending champion from 2014. The top five teams earned their respective sub-confederations an extra berth for the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup which is formerly named as the FIBA Asia Championship.
