FIA Motorsport Games
The FIA Motorsport Games is a biennial motorsport event administered by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). It includes competitions from multiple motorsport disciplines and is entered by national motorsport authorities under their national flags. Each competition awards gold, silver and bronze medals which contribute to an overall medals table determining the winning country of the event. History The first event took place at Vallelunga Circuit in Italy in 2019 and was won by Russia. The 2020 edition was postponed to 2021 and 2022 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. On 6 August 2021, the FIA announced that the 2022 event would be hosted at Circuit Paul Ricard in Marseille. It took place on 29–30 October 2022. Russia was banned from participating in the 2022 edition because of its invasion of Ukraine. Drifting (motorsport)
Drifting is a driving technique where the driver purposely Understeer and oversteer, oversteers, with loss of traction, while maintaining control and driving the car through the entirety of a corner or a turn. The technique causes the rear slip angle to exceed the front slip angle to such an extent that often the front wheels are pointing in the opposite direction to the turn (e.g. car is turning left, wheels are pointed right or vice versa, also known as opposite lock or Countersteering#Other uses, counter-steering). Drifting is traditionally performed using three methods: clutch kicking (where the clutch is rapidly disengaged and re-engaged with the intention of upsetting the grip of the rear wheels), weight transfer (using techniques such as the Scandinavian flick), and employing a handbrake turn. ACI Vallelunga Circuit
The Autodromo di Vallelunga Piero Taruffi is a racing circuit situated north of Rome, Italy, near Vallelunga of Campagnano. Vallelunga was built as a sand oval in 1951. History From 1963 the circuit held the Rome Grand Prix, and in 1967 a new loop was added when the track became the property of the Automobile Club d'Italia (ACI). Further refurbishment was undertaken in 1971. The track is named for the famous Italian racing driver Piero Taruffi. In August 2004 work started on a extension to the track, bringing the track up to its current length. Auto Slalom
Autoslalom (auto slalom, slalom) is a form of motorsport that takes place on short, temporary courses marked out on areas of sealed-surfaces such as car parks or disused airport runways. Competitors are timed to complete the course, with penalties given for diverting from the route or for touching the course markers. Each competitor starts individually and speeds are kept low to emphasise safety and to require good vehicle control. Autoslalom is a constituent discipline of the international FIA Motorsport Games. Autocross
Autocross is a form of motorsport in which competitors are timed to complete a short course using automobiles on a dirt or grass surface, excepting where sealed surfaces are used in United States. Rules vary according to the governing or sanctioning body, such as the length of the course, the number of permitted attempts, or whether competitors start the course individually at intervals or at the same time as others. In this latter form, Autocross differs from other forms of motor racing by using a system of heats or alternative timing methods for the classification rather than racing for position and declaring the first across the finish line as the winner.
