FFSA Super League
The FFSA Super League was the highest state-level soccer competition in South Australia between 2006 and 2012. Prior to the 2006 season, the highest level competition in South Australia was the SASF Premier League. Due to the manifestation of a new governing body, Football Federation Australia the SASF ceased operations. Nationally, it was one grade lower than the A-League. South Australian State League 1
State League South Australia is a series of soccer leagues based in South Australia which consists of two divisions; SA State League 1 (SL1) and SA State League 2 (SL2). It runs as the second and third tiers of soccer in South Australia ( third and fourth in Australia). It is conducted by Football South Australia, the state's governing body. After the reforming of the South Australian football league structure in 2012, the league increased its participants from 10 clubs to 16. Football South Australia announced a restructuring of the league format in South Australia for the 2016 to 2018 seasons, moving from a 2 tiered system to a 3 tiered system with the introduction of a new 3rd division (State League 2), which reduced the participants in the now State League 1 down to 12. Sergio Melta
Sergio Melta (born 19 January 1959), is an Australian former footballer, who had an extensive career in Australia's National Soccer League (NSL), spent entirely with Adelaide City. Playing career Club Melta won the NSL's player of the year award in 1984. International Melta was given his international debut by Frank Arok but ultimately played just once for the Australian national team, a friendly against Czechoslovakia played at Hindmarsh Stadium in his home city of Adelaide in 1986. Melta was substituted off after 57 minutes during the 0–1 loss. Coaching career Melta took over the head coaching role of West Torrens Birkalla in the FFSA Premier League. West Torrens Birkalla Soccer Club, commonly known as Birkalla, is a semi-professional soccer club based in Novar Gardens, a south-western suburb of Adelaide in the City of West Torrens. The club was founded in 1979 as a merger between West Torrens (1967) and Birkalla Rovers. The club currently plays in State League 1 South Australia, previously competing in the National Premier Leagues South Australia in 2022. Royal Park is located in the western suburbs of Adelaide. It is home to a large Polish community, as evidenced by the establishment of St Stanislaus of Cracow Catholic Church.
