The FEI World Cup Jumping 2008–09 will be the 31st edition of the premier international show jumping competition run by the International Federation for Equestrian Sports, FEI. The final held at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, Las Vegas, Nevada from April 15, 2009 to April 19, 2009. Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum of Germany was the defending champion, having won the final the previous year (2007–08) in Gothenburg, Sweden. Show jumping is a part of a group of English riding equestrian events that also includes eventing, hunters, and equitation. Jumping classes are commonly seen at horse shows throughout the world, including the Olympics. Sometimes shows are limited exclusively to jumpers. Sometimes jumper classes are offered in conjunction with other English-style events. Sometimes, show jumping is but one division of a very large, all-breed competition that includes a very wide variety of disciplines. Astana
Astana is the capital city of Kazakhstan. With a population of 1,423,726 within the city limits, it is the second-largest in the country after Almaty, which had been the capital until 1997. Bishkek, formerly known as Pishpek (until 1926), and then Frunze (1926–1991), is the Capital city, capital and largest city of Kyrgyzstan.
