FC Vilniaus Vytis was a Lithuanian football team from the city of Vilnius. History Founded as FK TAIP in 2012. Played in amateur leagues. Was promoted to I Lyga. In 2016 changed name to Vilniaus Vytis. Few seasons was one of the strongest teams in I Lyga. In 2021 Vilniaus Vytis withdrew from 1 Lyga for one season with an option to rejoin for season 2022. LFF Stadium
FK Žalgiris' Home Stadium (), formerly known as Vėtra Stadium and LFF Stadium, is a Soccer-specific stadium, football stadium in Vilnius, Lithuania. The stadium succeeded the Žalgiris Stadium as the main venue of FK Žalgiris, the city's primary football club, and was home of the Lithuanian national football team between 2005 and 2022. It can accommodate 5,067 people. History The Stadium was built in 1957 and was first named Lokomotyvas. The Stadium was rebuilt in 2004 and renamed to Vėtra Stadium as the home ground of FK Vėtra. Algimantas Liubinskas
Algimantas Liubinskas (born 4 November 1951 in Kybartai) is a former head coach of the Lithuania national football team. Football At 31 years old, Liubinskas became the youngest ever coach of the Soviet Supreme League team Žalgiris Vilnius (which he coached from April 1983 to April 1985). In 1991, Algimantas Liubinskas was named the head coach of the Lithuanian national team, restored after independence. Despite wins against Slovenia and Ukraine in 1994 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Liubinskas was fired in 1995 after an argument with the Lithuanian Football Federation. His next job saw him move back into club football as he won the 1996/97 Lithuanian title with FK Kareda Šiauliai, but subsequent spells at FK Panerys Vilnius, Ekranas Panevėžys, and Polish side Jagiellonia Bialystok were less successful. I Lyga
The LFF Pirma Lyga, TOPsport Pirma Lyga, or Pirma Lyga, is the second tier of professional Lithuanian football championship. Format Organized by the Lithuanian Football Federation (LFF), I Lyga is contested by 16 teams, with the top team gaining promotion to A Lyga and replaced by the lowest-placed team in top division. The second-placed team qualifies to a promotion play-off with A Lyga's second to last team. Bottom 2 clubs are relegated to the II Lyga, and 3rd last team plays a play-off with the 3rd placed team in II Lyga. The final list of participants often does not correlate to the final results of the previous season, as the participation is finalized through the Lithuanian Football Federation league licensing process. Lithuanian Football Federation's II lyga, LFF II lyga is the third tier Lithuanian football championship. As of 2021, the II lyga is a single league, consisting of planned 16 teams. The two top teams gain promotion to the I Lyga. Until the end of 2020 season the league consisted of the Southern Zone and the Western Zone. The Northern Zone and the Eastern Zone existed in some past seasons, but were done away with due to the dwindling number of participating clubs. League Structure Southern Zone The zone has existed since 1999 until 2020. Kaunas County Football Federation was in charge of the competition in this zone.
