FC Twente
Football Club Twente (), sometimes known internationally as FC Twente Enschede, is a Dutch professional Association football, football club from the city of Enschede. The club was formed in 1965 by the merger of 1926 Dutch champions Sportclub Enschede with Enschedese Boys. FC Twente's trophy cabinet includes the 2010–11 KNVB Cup, KNVB Cup, the 2011 Johan Cruyff Shield, Johan Cruyff Shield, and the 2009–10 Eredivisie, Eredivisie title. They were runner-up in the Eredivisie in two other seasons, and finished second in the 1974–75 UEFA Cup, UEFA Cup. They have also won the Dutch Cup three times, most recently in 2011. Twente's home ground since 1998 is De Grolsch Veste. Since 2019, the team have played in the Eredivisie, the top division of Dutch football. De Grolsch Veste (; ), previously known as Arke Stadion (), is the stadium of football club FC Twente. It is located in Enschede, Netherlands, at the Business & Science Park, near the University of Twente. The stadium has an all-seated capacity of 30,205 with a standard pitch heating system and has a promenade instead of fences around the stands. It hosted the final of the UEFA Women's Euro 2017. History De Grolsch Veste replaced the old Diekman Stadion as FC Twente's home ground on 22 March 1998. Plans had been afoot to expand and to renovate the old and now demolished Diekman Stadion. However, with a growing fan capacity and with arguments that the location of the Diekman stadium was not strategic enough, the idea was conceived to build a new arena for the FC Twente fans. Kick Van Der Vall
Christian Alfred "Kick" van der Vall (born 3 March 1946) is a Dutch former professional footballer, who played as an attacking midfielder for Feyenoord, DWS, Vitesse, and is best known for his longer spell at FC Twente. Career Van der Vall started playing youth football at Feyenoord. In 1963, he scored 3 goals against Ajax in the final of the Dutch youth championship. He made his Eredivisie debut on 13 December that year, scoring the winning goal against GVAV. He failed to win a regular starting position and after 4 years and 35 matches van der Vall moved to FC Twente. Coached by Kees Rijvers he immediately became a starter and scored 7 goals his first season at Twente. After only 1 year van der Vall moved to DWS. 1997–98 UEFA Cup
The 1997–98 UEFA Cup was won by Internazionale in an all-Italian final against Lazio. It was their third title in eight years in the competition. It was the first instance of the UEFA Cup final being a one-game contest at a neutral stadium, having previously being decided over two legs with each team having one home game. This was the first tournament where the 2nd placed team of major European leagues went to the Champions League instead of the UEFA Cup. Hans Meyer (born 3 November 1942) is a German former professional football player and manager. Managerial career East Germany (1971–1987) Meyer was born in Briesen near Bilin, German Empire, today Bílina, Czech Republic. He was manager of Carl Zeiss Jena from 1 July 1971 to 23 October 1983. His first match was a 1–0 win against Vorwärts Stralsund on 29 August 1971. During the 1971–72 season, Carl Zeiss Jena participated in the UEFA Cup. The Eerste Divisie (; ) is the second-highest tier of football in the Netherlands. It is linked with the top-level Eredivisie via promotion/relegation systems. It is also known as the Keuken Kampioen Divisie due to sponsorship reasons, while previously it was known as Jupiler League for the same reason. Prins Hendrik Ende Desespereert Nimmer Combinatie Zwolle, commonly known as PEC Zwolle, is a Dutch professional football club based in Zwolle, Netherlands. KNVB Cup
The KNVB Beker (; ), branded as the TOTO KNVB Beker for sponsorship reasons, is a competition in the Netherlands organised by the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) since 1898. It was based on the format of the English FA Cup. Outside the Netherlands, it is often referred to as the Dutch Cup.
