FC Tori Borjomi
FC Tori ( ka, საფეხბურთო კლუბი თორი) is a Georgian football club based in Borjomi. They completed five seasons in lower leagues of Georgian football system and started participating in Regionuli Liga East Group in 2021, but after twelve matches withdrew from the tournament. History The first football club, emerged in Borjomi in 1936, for many years participated in Georgian regional championship under the names ''Borjomi'' or ''Tori'' and later, between 2005 and 2009, in Umaglesi Liga as FC Borjomi. While FC Borjomi represented the city in Liga 2, in July 2016 FC Tori was officially established by veteran football players on the basis of Borjomi Sport School. Jemal Zeinklishvili Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Borjomi, Samtskhe–Javakheti region, Georgia. It is used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of FC Borjomi FC Borjomi is a Georgian football club based in Borjomi. Borjomi
Borjomi ( ka, ბორჯომი) is a resort town in south-central Georgia, 160 km from Tbilisi, with a population of 11,122 (2021). It is one of the municipalities of the Samtskhe–Javakheti region and is situated in the northwestern part of the region in the picturesque Borjomi Gorge on the eastern edge of the Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park. The town is noted for its mineral water industry (which is the number one export of Georgia), the Romanov summer palace in Likani, and the World Wide Fund for Nature-site Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park. Regionuli Liga ( Georgian: რეგიონული ლიგა), run by Georgian Football Federation since 1990, is the fifth and lowest division of the Georgian league system after Erovnuli Liga, Erovnuli Liga 2, Liga 3 and Liga 4. Its participants are both professional clubs and reserve teams of higher league members. Prior to the introduction of Liga 4 in 2019, Regionuli Liga was the fifth tier. Structure As the name implies, the league is based on regional principle. Depending on the number of participating clubs, it is divided into several groups. In 2017, there were forty teams allocated in three groups. The next year two zones were created for teams based in Western Georgia and two more for the eastern regions. The Georgian Erovnuli Liga 2 ( ka, ეროვნული ლიგა 2; ), organized since 1990 by GFF, serves as the second division of professional football in Georgia. Under the current name the league was introduced for the 2017 season as a part of reorganization process of the entire league system. It was formerly known as Pirveli liga (the First league). Structure There are ten clubs competing in Erovnuli Liga 2. During the season each club plays against its rival four times, twice at home and twice away. At the end of each season the winner gains automatic promotion and the bottom club is relegated. The runner-up and 3rd placed team participate in two-legged home and away play-off matches against the respectively 9th and 8th placed clubs of Erovnuli Liga. Meore Liga
Liga 3, organized by Georgian Football Federation since 1990, is the third division of professional football in Georgia. Until 2017, when the current name was introduced, it was known as Meore Liga (the Second league). Structure and league system There were 20 teams competing in the league in 2017. In 2019, when Liga 4 was formed, their number was reduced to ten, although after two seasons GFF decided to extend the league to 14 at the expense of two bottom teams from the previous season and two second-placed clubs from Liga 4 While and Red Groups. Liga 4 (Georgia)
Liga 4, organized by Georgian Football Federation, is the fourth tier of Georgian football league. It was founded in 2019 as a part of comprehensive reorganization of the league system. Structure and format In 2018, GFF decided to form an additional division between Liga 3 and Regionuli Liga by introducing Liga 4 for the 2019 season. After the first year the top two clubs were promoted to Liga 3 and the bottom two were supposed to be relegated to Regional league. However, in February 2020 the league regulation sustained new changes, which saved the doomed teams from relegation and enlarged the tournament with four more Regionuli Liga clubs. In January 2021, GFF announced that the number of clubs participating in the upcoming season would be increased to twenty, although for the next year they were reduced back to sixteen. FC Borjomi
FC Borjomi is a Georgian football club based in Borjomi. Since the 2021 season they have been a member of Liga 3, the third tier of Georgian football system. The team has spent four seasons in the top flight. Their home ground is Jemal Zeinklishvili Stadium. History Founded in 1936, FC Borjomi participated in Georgian regional championship for many years. From 1993/94 they spent several seasons in the second and third division. In 2004/05 Borjomi finished 2nd in Liga 2 and got promoted to Umaglesi Liga, where the club competed for four seasons.
