FC Slivnishki Geroy (Slivnitsa)
Football Club Slivnishki Geroy () is a Bulgarian association football club based in Slivnitsa, Sofia Province, which competes in the South-West Third League. Their home ground since 1966 has been Slivnishki Geroy Stadium. The club has played in its traditional blue and white stripes throughout most of its history. Slivnishki geroy has 13 seasons in the B PFG, the second level of Bulgarian football, including continuously from 1970 to 1983. Battle Of Slivnitsa
The Battle of Slivnitsa (, ) was a battle between the Bulgarian army and the Royal Serbian Army on 17–19 November 1885, in the Serbo-Bulgarian War. The Bulgarian victory solidified the unification between the Principality of Bulgaria and Eastern Rumelia. Background The conclusion of the Russo-Turkish War (1877–1878) and the Congress of Berlin 1878 left Bulgaria divided into two sections. The area north of the Balkan Mountains and Sofia became an autonomous principality. Eastern Rumelia between the Balkan and Rhodope mountains gained semi-autonomous status with an Ottoman appointed Christian governor. The Bulgarian Assembly chose Prince Alexander Battenberg as their ruler and continued to press for the reunification of their country. Atanas Petrov Kurdov (; born 28 September 1988) is a Bulgarian footballer who plays as a striker for Botev Ihtiman. His father is former player and manager Petar Kurdov. Career Youth career Kurdov is a product of the Levski Sofia's Youth Academy. In 2007, he spent weeks on a trial period in Celtic FC and Tottenham Hotspur. The Bulgarian Second Professional Football League (), also known as Second League () or Vtora liga, is the second level of the Bulgarian football league system, below First League and above the Third League. Twenty teams take part in the league, each playing twice against all the other, once home and once away. Most matches are played on Saturdays and Sundays.
