FC Kuressaare, commonly known as Kuressaare, is a professional football club, based in Kuressaare, Saaremaa, Estonia. The club's home ground is Kuressaare linnastaadion. Founded on 14 March 1997, the club competes in the Meistriliiga, the top tier of Estonian football. History Early history Kuressaare was founded on 14 March 1997. Its predecessor was a youth club B.B. Sport, coached by Johannes Kaju. Kuressaare joined the Estonian football league system and began competing in the Western division of the III liiga. The club's first president and manager was Aivar Pohlak. Kuressaare was promoted to the Esiliiga for the 1998 season and finished in 6th place under the new manager Jan Važinski. Most of the team were Saaremaa locals who were reinforced by players from Kuressaare's parent club Flora. Kuressaare won the Esiliiga in the 1999 season and was promoted to the Meistriliiga. Kuressaare Linnastaadion
Kuressaare linnastaadion is a multi-purpose stadium in Kuressaare, Estonia. It is currently used mostly for football matches and hosts the matches of FC Kuressaare. The stadiums seated capacity is 2,000. The stadium was renovated in 2014 and a new grandstand is planned to be constructed by 2026. Kuressaare linnastaadion has also hosted six official Estonian national football team matches, with the last one taking place in 2008. JK Sillamäe Kalev, commonly known as Sillamäe Kalev, or simply as Sillamäe, is a football club, based in Sillamäe, Estonia. Founded in 1957, Sillamäe Kalev was one of the founding members of the Meistriliiga. The club competed in the Meistriliiga, the top flight of Estonian football in 2017, but was declared bankrupt in March 2018. Its football academy continued and took over the name, continuing in the II liiga, 4th level in the Estonian football league system. History Sillamäe Kalev was founded in 1957 and competed in the Estonian SSR Football Championship. In 1992, the club became one of the founding members of the Meistriliiga. Sillamäe Kalev was relegated after the 1993–94 season. After a lengthy spell in lower divisions, the club returned to the Meistriliiga for the 2008 season. FCI Tallinn
FCI Tallinn (FC Infonet Tallinn) is a football club, based in Lasnamäe, Tallinn, Estonia. Formed in 2002, the club played in the Estonian top flight Meistriliiga from 2013 to 2017, and won the league in the 2016 season. In 2017, the club merged with Levadia, with the main team and first reserve disbanded, the second reserves, playing in the II Liiga, the fourth level, inherited the club's name. History The club was founded in 2002. Before the 2011 season, the club merged with Esiliiga club FC Atletik. They finished the 2011 season in second place, but were beaten in the promotion play-offs by Kuressaare 1–5 on aggregate. Kuressaare () is a town on Saaremaa island in Estonia. It is the administrative centre of Saaremaa Parish and the capital of Saare County. Kuressaare is the westernmost town in Estonia. The recorded population on 1 January 2018 was 13,276. The town is situated on the southern coast of Saaremaa island, facing the Gulf of Riga of the Baltic Sea, and is served by the Kuressaare Airport, Roomassaare harbour, and Kuressaare yacht harbour. Esiliiga B
The Esiliiga B is the third division in the Estonian football league system. The Esiliiga B is ranked below the Esiliiga and above the II liiga. As in most countries with low temperatures in winter time, the season starts in March and ends in November. Competition format The league consists of 10 clubs, all teams play each other four times. Both the winning team and the runners-up are promoted to the Esiliiga directly, whereas the third place club will participate in a two-legged play-off with the 8th place club of the Esiliiga for the spot in next year's competition. Same way the 2 bottom placed teams are relegated to the II liiga. The 2015 Esiliiga was the 25th season of the Esiliiga, second-highest Estonian league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 1992. The season started on 8 March 2015 and concluded on 8 November 2015. Flora II won the league on the last day of the season, finishing with 72 points. It was their second league title. Tarvas finished 4th and were promoted to the Meistriliiga for the first time in their history. Tallinna Kalev finished 6th and qualified to the promotion play-offs but were beaten by Tammeka 2–4 on aggregate. Santos finished 8th but avoided the relegation play-offs after Sillamäe Kalev II withdrew. Vaprus and Kuressaare were the bottom two teams and were relegated to the Esiliiga B. The 2013 Meistriliiga (also known as A. Le Coq Premium Liiga for sponsorship reasons) was the 23rd season of the Meistriliiga, the first level in the Estonian football system. The season began on 2 March 2013 and ended on 9 November 2013. Nõmme Kalju, the defending champions, finished runners-up behind Levadia, who won their 8th title. Teams 2012 Esiliiga champions Infonet, who lost out to Kuressaare in the promotion/relegation play-off as Esiliiga Runners-up in 2011, were promoted to this season's Meistriliiga making their first appearance in the top division. Esiliiga runners-up Tarvas lost out on promotion as Meistriliiga's 9th placed club Tallinna Kalev defeated them 3–1 on aggregate in the Promotion/relegation play-off. 2009 Meistriliiga
The 2009 Meistriliiga was the 19th season of the Meistriliiga, Estonia's premier football league. It started on 7 March 2009 and ended on 10 November 2009. Levadia won their seventh title. Changes from the previous season TVMK were disbanded after the end of the previous season. Hence Vaprus, who originally were to be directly relegated, faced Esiliiga side Paide Linnameeskond in a relegation play-off series for one spot in Meistriliiga 2009. With an aggregate 5–5, Paide Linnameeskond won the promotion play-off against Vaprus on the away goals rule and play their first season in Estonian top division. Tallinna Kalev, who originally were to participate in the relegation series, were spared. Kuressaare earned promotion to the 2009 Meistriliiga after finishing in second place in the 2008 Esiliiga; champions Levadia II were not eligible to be promoted. 2006 Esiliiga
The 2006 Esiliiga is the 16th season of the Esiliiga, second-highest Estonian league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 1992. FC Kuressaare gained automatic promotion to the Meistriliiga as FC Levadia II are the reserve team for Meistriliiga champions FC Levadia and therefore can not be promoted to the same league as its parent club. JK Tallinna Kalev also go up after winning the promotion-relegation play-off. The league's top-scorer was FC Levadia youngster Kaimar Saag with 37 goals. Nõmme Kalju's Andrus Mitt scored 35 goals.
