FC Daugava Riga (FK Daugava Rīga) is a former Soviet and Latvian football club from Riga. It participated in the Soviet championships. FK Daugava Rīga was a Latvian football club, based at the Daugava Stadium in Riga. They played in the Latvian Higher League. The last manager of the team was Armands Zeiberliņš. From the club's foundation in 2003 till 2009 the club was known as ''FK Jūrmala'' and based in the city of Jūrmala. In 2010, they changed their name to ''FK Jūrmala-VV'', but in March 2012 the club moved to Riga, changing its name to ''FK Daugava Rīga''. Dinaburg FC was a Latvian Association football, football club, playing in the city of Daugavpils. In 2009 it merged with FC Daugava, FK Daugava. The club played at the Daugava Stadium (capacity 4,070). Policijas FK or FK Policija (later known as PFK Daugava) was a Latvian football club based in Riga that played in the Virslīga from 1999 to 2002. History The football club of the Latvian police forces was founded in 1994. Until 1998 it played in the lower divisions of Latvian football as a completely amateur team. In 1998 Policijas FK for the first year played in 1. līga and won the tournament. In 1999 Policijas FK coached by Georgijs Gusarenko debuted in Virslīga. The Latvia national under-21 football team represents the under-21s of Latvia and is controlled by the Latvian Football Federation, the governing body of football in Latvia. Daugavpils (see also other names) is a state city in southeastern Latvia, located on the banks of the Daugava River, from which the city derives its name.
