FC Baleine Shimonoseki
are a Japanese football club based on Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture. They play in the Chūgoku Soccer League, one of Japan's fifth tier leagues, which is part of Japanese Regional Leagues. Name origin The name ''Baleine'' means whale in French. Whales are related with the club's hometown Shimonoseki, that was once a whaling base. History The club was founded on 2006, starting from the 4th division of the Yamaguchi Prefecture League, one of the 10th-tier leagues of Japanese football. Baleine would only get out of prefectural football on 2018, after winning promotion to the Chugoku Soccer League, starting their journey on regional football. is a Japanese football club based in the city of Ōita, capital of Ōita Prefecture. They currently play in the Japan Football League, the fourth tier of Japanese league football. The 2024 Emperor's Cup or the JFA 104th Japan Football Championship ( Japanese: 天皇杯 JFA 第104回全日本サッカー選手権大会) was the 104th edition of the annually known contested cup. As usual it featured 88 teams representing the prefectural football associations, university football federation, J1 League, J2 League and Japan Football League. Kawasaki Frontale were the defending champions, winning the 2023 final on penalties against Kashiwa Reysol. On 19 September 2023, it was announced by JFA that Urawa Red Diamonds was banned from participating in this tournament following supporters clash after a 0–3 loss against Nagoya Grampus in the 4th round of the previous year's edition. The 2021 Emperor's Cup (Emperor's Cup JFA 101st Japan Football Championship (Japanese: 天皇杯 JFA 第101回全日本サッカー選手権大会)) was the 101st annual Japanese national football cup tournament, which began on 22 May 2021 and ended with the final on 19 December that year. Following the compressed format of the 2020 tournament, the 2021 Emperor's Cup was restored to its usual format, featuring 90 teams representing prefectural football associations as well as the J1 and J2 Leagues. The 2020 Japanese Regional Leagues (Japanese: 2020 地域リーグ, Hepburn: 2020 Chiiki Rīgu) was the 55th edition of the Japanese Regional Leagues, the fifth tier of the Japanese association football league system. Promotion and relegation is used by sports leagues as a process where teams can move up and down among divisions in a league system, based on their performance over a season. Leagues that use promotion and relegation systems are sometimes called open leagues.
