Bakhmach (, ) is a city located in Nizhyn Raion of Chernihiv Oblast (province), in northern Ukraine. It hosts the administration of Bakhmach urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. The Ukrainian Cup ( ) is an association football national knockout cup competition run by the Ukrainian Association of Football. 1996–97 Ukrainian Football Amateur League
1996–97 Amateur championship of Ukraine was the fifth amateur championship of Ukraine and the 33rd since the establishment of championship among fitness clubs (KFK) in 1964. The format of competitions was preserved as in the Soviet competitions where winner of six regional groups advanced to the final (second) stage. First stage competitions were played in double round robin format where each team played with others four times. There were total of 33 teams competing. The Association of Amateur Football of Ukraine (, AAFU) is a sports organization that administers national competitions of association football among amateur and children teams. AAFU is a collective member of the Football Federation of Ukraine. It was established 2 March 1998 and under the association agreement between the Football Federation of Ukraine and the Association, it is authorized to organize the All-Ukrainian National Football Championship and Cup tournaments amongst amateur football teams. The Ukrainian Second League (, ''Druha Liha'') is a professional football league in Ukraine which is part of the Professional Football League of Ukraine, a collective member of the Ukrainian Association of Football. As the third tier it was established in 1992 as the Transitional League and changed its name the next season. The league is lower than the Ukrainian First League (''Persha Liha'') and the lowest level of professional football competitions in the country. 1997–98 Ukrainian Cup
The 1997–98 Ukrainian Cup was the seventh annual edition of Ukraine's football knockout competition since the country's independence. This edition of the Cup started with a preliminary round of few pairs and three qualification knockout rounds before the first round of the competition. Two legs rounds were extended to the main portion of competition as well as some qualification rounds. Amateur clubs were represented by the winner of Ukrainian Amateur Cup only. The cup holder Shakhtar Donetsk was eliminated on away goal rule by Metalurh Donetsk in Round of 16.
