F11 (classification)
B1 is a medical-based Paralympic disability sport classification, classification for blindness, blind sport. Athletes in this classification are totally or almost totally blind. It is used by a number of blind sports including blind tennis, blind cricket, blind golf, Paralympic association football#Football 5-a-side, five-a-side football, goalball and Paralympic judo, judo. Some other sports, including adaptive rowing, Athletics (sport), athletics and Swimming (sport), swimming, have equivalents to this class. It was used by para-alpine skiing and para-Nordic skiing until 2024. LogMAR Chart
A logMAR chart is a chart consisting of rows of letters that is used by ophthalmologists, orthoptists, optometrists, and vision scientists to estimate visual acuity. The name of the chart is an abbreviation for "logarithm of the Minimum Angle of Resolution". British Blind Sport (BBS) is a British charity that makes sport and recreational activities accessible to people who are visually impaired. The charity enables blind and partially sighted people to experience the same sporting opportunities as sighted people. Since its establishment in 1975, BBS has become a voice for visually impaired people in the world of sport and leisure, both in the United Kingdom and on an international level. Five-a-side Football
Five-a-side football is a version of minifootball, in which each team fields five players (four Outfield#In association football, outfield players and a goalkeeper (association football), goalkeeper). Other differences from association football include a smaller pitch, smaller goals, and a reduced game duration. Matches are played indoors, or outdoors on artificial grass pitches that may be enclosed within a barrier or "cage" to prevent the ball from leaving the playing area and keep the game constantly flowing. Five-a-side football is an informal, small-sided game with flexible rules, often determined before play begins. The penalty area is semi-circular and only the goalkeeper can touch the ball within it. There are no offside rules, headers are allowed, and yellow and red cards work similarly to traditional 11-a-side football. S11 (classification)
S11, SB11, SM11 are para-swimming classifications for blind swimmers. Sport This classification is for swimming. In the classification title, S represents Freestyle, Backstroke and Butterfly strokes. SB means breaststroke. SM means individual medley. Jane Buckley, writing for the Sporting Wheelies, describes the swimmers in this classification as: "unable to see at all and are considered totally blind (see IBSA B1 – appendix). Swimmers must wear blackened goggles if they swim in this class. They will also require someone to tap them when they are approaching a wall." Para-equestrian is an equestrian sport governed by the International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI), and includes two competitive events. One is para-equestrian dressage, which is conducted under the same basic rules as conventional dressage, but with riders divided into different competition grades based on their functional abilities. The other is para-equestrian driving, which operates under the same basic rules as combined driving but places competitors in various grades based on their functional abilities. LTA-B1 is an adaptive rowing classification. The classifications were developed and current as of March 2011. Definition Rowing Australia defines this classification as "athletes with a visual impairment (LTA-B1, LTA-B2 and LTA-B3)" Events Rowers in this classification compete in single and sculls for club, state, and national competitions.
