F.C. De Kampioenen (comic)
F.C. De Kampioenen is a Belgian comic strip created by Hec Leemans since 1997 and published by Standaard Uitgeverij. The comics series is based on the television sitcom comedy series of the same name on Flemish television. The series ran for 94 albums with numerous special versions and editions. Setting The comics follows the television show rather closely and replicates the atmosphere and the settings faithfully. Primarily, the comics exhibits a humorous and fun atmosphere. Premiering in 1997, the comics proved to be a great success propelling itself to be one of the top 5 best-selling comic strips in Flanders, together with The Adventures of Urbanus, Jommeke, Spike and Suzy, and De Kiekeboes. Standaard Uitgeverij is a Belgian publisher, and the leading publisher in the Dutch language market of Flanders. History In 1919, the Standaard group was created, mainly consisting of a chain of bookshops ( Standaard Boekhandel), a newspaper (''De Standaard'') and a publishing house, the Standaard Uitgeverij. By the 1930s, the different branches became more and more independent, but only in the 1980s was the group finally disbanded. In 1994, the company was acquired by the Dutch group PCM Algemene Boeken BV. The company is best known for its comics and popular literature, but also publishes youth literature, non-fiction (mainly cartography, lexicography, and massmarket titles), and multimedia publications. ''De Kiekeboes'' is a comic strip series created by Belgian artist Merho in 1977. The series appears in Dutch. It is first published in the newspapers ''Gazet van Antwerpen'' and ''Het Belang van Limburg'' and then published as comic books by Standaard Uitgeverij. The series is the best-selling comic in Flanders, but is unsuccessful abroad, with only a few publications in French and English. History ''De Kiekeboes'' debuted in 1977. Merho had previously worked with Willy Vandersteen but wanted to create his own series. The first story, ''De Wollebollen'', started in ''Het Laatste Nieuws''. on 15 February 1977. New albums in the series appear every three months, and sell over 100,000 copies each. ''Spike and Suzy'' (British title), ''Willy and Wanda'' (American title) or ''Luke and Lucy'' (in a 2009 film and video game) (Dutch: ''Suske en Wiske'', french: link=no, Bob et Bobette) is a Belgian comics series created by the comics author Willy Vandersteen. It was first published in '' De Nieuwe Standaard'' in 1945 and soon became popular. Although not in its earlier form, the strip adapted to the Ligne claire style, pioneered by Hergé. This change took place when the strip became serialised in Hergé's Franco-Belgian comics magazine '' Tintin'' from 1948 to 1959. ''Jommeke'' is a Belgian comic strip series in publication since 1955. It was created by Jef Nys and can be defined as a humoristic children's adventure series. Jommeke, an 11-year-old boy, is the series' main protagonist. It was originally published in ''Kerk en Leven'', before moving to '' Het Volk'', where it ran until the newspaper ceased to exist in 2010.
