Eyvan County () is in Ilam province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Eyvan. Demographics Ethnicity The population of Eyvan County is mainly Kurdish. Population At the time of the 2006 National Census, the county's population was 47,380 in 10,040 households. The following census in 2011 counted 48,833 people in 11,859 households. The 2016 census measured the population of the county as 49,491 in 13,820 households. Iran's counties (, Romanization, romanized as ''šahrestân'') are administrative divisions of larger Provinces of Iran, provinces (''ostan''). Chavar County
Chavar County () is in Ilam province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Chavar, whose population at the time of the 2016 National Census was 5,831 people in 1,562 households. History In 2019, Chavar District was separated from Ilam County in the establishment of Chavar County and renamed the Central District. The new county was divided into two districts of two rural districts each, with Chavar as its capital and only city at the time. Ilam County
Ilam County () is in Ilam Province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Ilam. History After the 2011 National Census, Keshvari Rural District was created in the Central District, and Mish Khas Rural District was separated from it in the formation of Sivan District, including the new Alishervan Rural District. In 2019, the village of Jafarabad was elevated to the status of a city. Chavar District was separated from the county in the establishment of Chavar County. In 2023, Mahmudabad Rural District was created in Sivan District, and Alishervan Rural District was separated from it to join Badreh County. Ghalajeh Protected Area
Ghalajeh tunnel (Persian: تونل قلاجه) or Arba'een tunnel is a tunnel half of which is located in Eyvan County in Ilam province and the other half in Gwawar District of Gilan-e Gharb County in Kermanshah province of Iran. It connects Ilam Province northward to Kermanshah Province. Inaugurated in 2017 with a length of 2.500 meters, it was the third-longest tunnel in Iran. By eliminating Ghalajeh Mountain Pass, the tunnel has made the route 15 km shorter. It is part of road 17 (Iran). Taq-e Shirin And Farhad
Taq-e Shirin and Farhad is a rock relief from the era of the Sasanian Empire, the Iranian dynasty ruling from 226 to 650 AD. It is located on the way from Zarneh in Ilam Province to Sumar in Kermanshah Province of Iran, seven kilometers from Chel Zarie village near Kooshk Pass in Eyvan County. The relief is attributed to the lovers Shirin and Farhad during the reign of the Sassanid king Khosraw II (591-628 CE). Kalhor Tribe
Kalhor () is a Kurdish people, Kurdish tribe and their dialect, "Kalhori", has been categorized as a branch of Southern Kurdish. History The tribe is described as the most powerful tribe in the Kermanshah province, province of Kermanshah and the surrounding region, and also described as "one of the most ancient, if not the most ancient, of the tribes of Kurdistan". The Kalhoris were mentioned by Sharaf-al-Din Bedlisi in the late 16th century, according to whom, the chiefs of the Kalhor claimed to be descended from Giv (Shahnameh), Giv, the son of Goudarz (q.v.), a major hero in the Shahnameh. Areas Kalhor tribe populate cities and towns such as Qasr-e Shirin, Sarpol-e Zahab, Gilan-e Gharb, Eslamabad-e Gharb, Kermanshah, Eyvan, Zarneh and Sumar, Iran, Sumar in Iran.
