Alicya Eyo (born 16 December 1975) is an English actress, best known for her roles as Denny Blood in the ITV prison drama series '' Bad Girls'' and Ruby Haswell in the ITV soap opera ''Emmerdale''. Early life Eyo was born on 16 December 1975 in Huyton, Merseyside. Her mother, Sue, is a jazz singer. She grew up in the Toxteth area of Liverpool. Her love of drama started when she was nine, and she attended drama and dance classes every Saturday. When she was 14, she moved to London with her family. She trained at the Courtyard Theatre School. Career Early career Eyo's first television appearance was in 1997, in '' Casualty'', which was filmed earlier. Effiong Okon Eyo
Effiong Okon Eyo (1918–1983) was a Nigerian politician who was a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly, Eastern region of Nigeria. Eyo was originally a member of National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons, NCNC but after a fallout with party leader, Azikiwe, he joined the opposition. Thereafter, he was involved in a petition to probe of the affairs of African Continental Bank and the bank's relationship with the regional government in 1956. Life Eyo, popularly known as Eyo Uyo, was born in Ibesikpo area of Uyo. He attended Government College Umuahia(Ref); after stepping out of Umuahia, he then took on various duties including working as a school teacher (where, which school, who were his students?), trader and clerk. Eyo Esua
Eyo Ita Esua (14 January 1901 – 6 December 1973) was a Nigerian teacher and trade unionist who was at the helm of the Balewa's government's Federal Electoral Commission in the Nigerian First Republic. Esua was a school master and a founder member of the Nigeria Union of Teachers. He was the first full-time general secretary of the union from 1943 until his retirement in 1964. He was an Efik, Calabar man, renowned for his dedication to duty and uprightness. The Esua-led commission organized the December 1964 election, which was mired in controversy. Two members of the commission disagreed with the chairman and resigned from the commission. Esua also conducted the 1965 Western Region election, which was violent and was disputed by the opposition United Party Grand Alliance. Eyo Ita (1903–1972) was a Nigerian educationist and politician from Creek Town, in present-day Cross River State, who was the leader of the Eastern Government of Nigeria in 1951 and the second Professor in Nigeria. ''Eyo'' is a 2009 eponymous novel written by Nigerian author, Abidemi Sanusi DND published by WordAlive Publishers. The novel explores the theme opposing child trafficking and sex slavery using children who are trafficked to Europe. ''Eyo'' was shortlisted for the Commonwealth Writers' Prize in 2010. Synopsis Eyo, an illiterate 10-year-old girl was trafficked to the United Kingdom by her father with promises of a better life. Eventually, her five-year stay was as a domestic servant and eventually, a child sex slave. Before coming to overseas, Eyo lived in Lagos State, Nigeria, and after she had moved abroad, she became a worker with much beats and hard threats. Eyo Festival
The Eyo Festival, otherwise known as the Adamu Orisha Play, is a Yoruba festival unique to Lagos, Nigeria and has a strong historical footing in Iperu-Remo, a town in Ikenne Local Government, Ogun State. In modern times, it is presented by the people of Lagos as a tourist event. Due to the history of its development, it is traditionally performed on Lagos Island. A notable festival date was in 2000 commemorating Justice G.B.A. Coker, a Lagos high chief, the Olori Adimu and the Olori Eyo of the Adimu Eyo cultural masquerade.
