Extraliga žen ve florbale is the highest league in the league system of Czech women's floorball and comprises the top 11 Czech floorball teams. The season culminates in a play-off played by the best 8 teams. The first season began in 1994–95. The champion of the league is eligible to compete at the Champions Cup. Floorball Competitions In The Czech Republic
Floorball is a type of floor hockey with five players and a goalkeeper in each team. Men and women play indoors with sticks and a plastic ball with holes. Matches are played in three twenty-minute periods. The sport of bandy also played a role in the game's development. The game was invented in Sweden in the late 1960s. The basic rules were established in 1979 when the first floorball club in the world, Sala IBK, from Sala, Sweden, Sala, was founded in Sweden. Official rules for matches were first written down in 1981. The sport is organized internationally by the International Floorball Federation (IFF). TJ Znojmo (TJ Znojmo LAUFEN CZ after its sponsor) is a floorball club based in Znojmo, Czech Republic. The team was founded in 1999. Tatran Střešovice (Tatran Teka Střešovice after its sponsor) is a floorball team based in Prague, Czech Republic. The team was founded in 1991. The men's team have played in the highest Czech floorball league, Superliga florbalu, since its foundation in 1993.
