Expressway S8 (Poland)
Expressway S8 or express road S8, officially named The Route of the Heroes of the Battle of Warsaw 1920 ( pl. ''droga ekspresowa S8'', ''Trasa Bohaterów Bitwy Warszawskiej 1920 r.'') is a Polish highway which connects Wrocław via Łódź and Warsaw to Białystok. The whole road is long. Its fragment forming the bypass of Wrocław (22.7 km) is constructed in motorway standard and marked as A8. The road was constructed between 2008 and 2019 (short fragments serving as town bypasses had been constructed earlier). The construction was co-funded by the European Union. In 2019, it was announced that an extension of S8 from Wrocław to Kłodzko was added to the plans. Its main part is planned to be opened by 2027. In 2022, it was announced that there are plans for extending the road further from Kłodzko to the Polish-Czech border in Boboszów which is intended to be constructed by 2033, however in the Czech Republic there is so far no planned expressway that would connec ... European Route E67
European route E 67 is an E-road running from Prague in the Czech Republic to Estonia and by ferry to Finland. It goes via Prague, Wrocław, Warsaw, Kaunas, Panevėžys, Riga, Tallinn, Helsinki. The route is known as the Via Baltica between Warsaw and Tallinn, with a distance of . It is a significant road connection between the Baltic states and Poland. The route is mostly an ordinary road, but there are plans to convert it into a motorway or expressway, in Poland called S8 (326 of 379 km completed ) and S61 (178,6 of 235 km completed ). Along the Via Baltica highway, the stretch of European route E67 between Warsaw and Tallinn, a 5G mobile network will be built in order to facilitate self-driving vehicles and expand opportunities for freight carriers. A2 Autostrada (Poland)
The A2 motorway in Poland, officially named the Motorway of Freedom (), is a Highways in Poland, motorway which runs from the Germany–Poland border, Polish-German border (connecting to Bundesautobahn 12, A12 autobahn near Świecko/Frankfurt (Oder), Frankfurt an der Oder), through Poznań and Łódź to Warsaw and, in the future, to the Belarus–Poland border, Polish-Belarusian border (connecting to M1 highway (Belarus), M1 highway near Terespol/Brest, Belarus, Brest). It is a part of European route E30. Controlled-access highways in Poland are part of the National roads in Poland, national roads network and they are divided into motorways and Controlled-access highway, expressways. Both types of highways feature grade-separated Interchange (road), interchanges with all other roads, Shoulder (road), emergency lanes, feeder lanes, wildlife crossings and dedicated roadside rest areas. Motorways differ from expressways in their technical parameters like designated speed, permitted road curvature, lane widths or minimal distances between interchanges. Battle Of Warsaw (1920)
The Battle of Warsaw (; , ), also known as the Miracle on the Vistula (), was a series of battles that resulted in a decisive Polish victory and complete disintegration of the Red Army in August 1920 during the Polish–Soviet War. After the Polish Kiev offensive, Soviet forces launched a successful counterattack in summer 1920, forcing the Polish army to retreat westward. The Polish forces seemed on the verge of disintegration and observers predicted a decisive Soviet victory. The Battle of Warsaw was fought from August 1920, as Red Army forces commanded by Mikhail Tukhachevsky approached the Polish capital of Warsaw and the nearby Modlin Fortress. Białystok is the largest city in northeastern Poland and the capital of the Podlaskie Voivodeship. Expressway S19 (Poland)
Expressway S19 or express road S19 ( pl. ''droga ekspresowa S19'') is a Polish freeway which has been planned to run from the border crossing with Belarus in Kuźnica, through Białystok, Lublin and Rzeszów, to the border with Slovakia in Barwinek, where it will connect with the future R4 expressway. The road is part of the Via Carpatia route. Its total planned length is . As of 2025, the 189.5-km long section between Lublin and Rzeszów (including bypasses of both cities) is complete. It is projected that all the remaining parts of the road should be opened to traffic between 2025 and 2029, with the exception of two mountain tunnels near the border with Slovakia which are expected to be finished by 2031. Ostrów Mazowiecka
Ostrów Mazowiecka (; ) is a town in eastern Poland with 23,486 inhabitants (2004). It is the capital of Ostrów Mazowiecka County in Masovian Voivodeship. History Ostrów was granted town rights in 1434 by Duke Bolesław IV of Warsaw. Its name comes from the Old Polish word ''ostrowa''. In 1461 a parish school was founded in the town. Expressway S61 (Poland)
Expressway S61 or express road S61 is a Polish highway running from Ostrów Mazowiecka (separating from express road S8) to the Polish-Lithuanian border near Budzisko (continuing as the Lithuanian A5 highway). Since September 2024, the whole route is open to traffic. On the long section serving as the bypass of Łomża, only the first carriageway is opened (serving bi-directional traffic with 1 lane per direction), while the second carriageway is to be finished in mid-2025. The road is part of the strategically important Via Baltica, the segment from Tallinn to Warsaw of the European route E67 connecting the Baltic States with the rest of Europe through the exposed Suwałki corridor. Its north-eastern end is also part of the planned Via Carpathia.
