Expeditionary Service Award
The Expeditionary Service Award is an award of the United States Department of State. It is presented to employees in the Department who serve in designated field locations. Currently, the following locations have been designated expeditionary by the Director General of the Foreign Service: *Iraq *Afghanistan The award consists of a certificate signed by the Secretary and a lapel pin. There is no cash award associated with recognition. Nominating and Approval Procedures The Assistant Secretary of a regional bureau may seek approval to present the Expeditionary Service Award to State Department employees who meet the award's criteria of a year’s assignment with successful service, to arduous and difficult field locations. The regional bureau will identify eligible field locations where State Department employees work and live in exceptionally difficult circumstances. USAID Meritorious Honor Award
The Meritorious Honor Award is an award of the United States Agency for International Development. Similar versions of the same award exist for the former US Information Service, U.S. Information Agency, Arms Control and Disarmament Agency, and Department of State. It is presented to groups or individuals in recognition of a special act or service or sustained outstanding performance. Secretary's Career Achievement Award
The Secretary’s Career Achievement Award is an award of the United States Department of State. It is presented to retiring career employees in the Department who, over a period of 25 years or more, of U.S. Government and/or military service, have performed with dedication and distinction. The award consists of a gold medal set and a certificate signed by the Secretary. While the Foreign Affairs Manual still stipulates award of a medal set, per a 2007 ALDAC (a cable intended for distribution to all diplomatic and consular posts), medals are no longer issued.
