''Expedition with Steve Backshall'' is a TV nature adventure documentary hosted by naturalist and explorer Steve Backshall. Production The show was adopted by PBS during a Fremantle deal. The UK channel Dave rebooted it essentially for an initial 4 episodes, but was extended to 6. After a pre-air date deal, the French channel France Television bought the rights to air it in their country. Expedition: Unpacked This spin-off series was commissioned in 2021, going behind the stories of their original episodes. Dave (TV Channel)
U&Dave is a British free-to-air television channel owned by UKTV, a subsidiary of BBC Studios. It is known for broadcasting mainly 21st-century comedy and factual programming, with both original production and repeats. Launched in October 1998 as UK Gold Classics, the channel would undergo various identity and format changes before adopting the Dave branding on 15 October 2007. It was renamed U&Dave in July 2024 to mark the streaming service UKTV Play being renamed as U. U&DaveJaVu is its sister timeshift channel. Steve Backshall
Stephen James Backshall (born 21 April 1973) is a British naturalist, explorer, presenter and writer, best known for BBC Television, BBC TV's ''Deadly (franchise), Deadly...'' franchise. His other BBC work includes being part of the expedition teams in ''Lost Land of the Tiger'', ''Lost Land of the Volcano'', ''Deadly Dinosaurs'' and ''Lost Land of the Jaguar'', as well as ''Expedition with Steve Backshall'' for the TV channel Dave (TV channel), Dave. He has worked for the National Geographic Channel and the Discovery Channel. He has published a series of four novels for children called ''The Falcon Chronicles'', three adult non-fiction works and numerous other children's non-fiction books. Early life Backshall's parents worked for British Airways, and he was brought up in a smallholding in Bagshot surrounded by rescue animals.
