Expedition To Riyadh (1746-1773)
The Diriyah expedition to Riyadh, was a campaign waged by the Emirate of Diriyah against the tribes of Riyadh for an expansion; it lasted more than 28 years. Background Uyayna, Manfuha, and Huraymila settlements voluntarily joined the Saudi government, later joined by Dhurma and Shaqra. The relationship between Riyadh and Diriyah before the establishment of the Saudi state was good and normal. Daham bin Dawas had a friendship and loyalty to Muhammad bin Saud due to his previous favor. However, the situation changed after Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab moved to Diriyah. Sources indicate that when he saw the expansion of the state and the spread of Ibn Abdul Wahhab's call, he took a negative stance. Muhammad bin Saud Al Muqrin Al Saud (; 1687–1765), also known as Ibn Saud, was the emir of Diriyah and is considered the founder of the First Saudi State and the Saud dynasty, named after his father, Saud bin Muhammad Al Muqrin. Abdulaziz Bin Muhammad Al Saud
Abdulaziz bin Muhammad Al Saud ( ''ʿAbd al ʿAzīz bin Muḥammad Āl Suʿūd''; 1720–1803) was the second ruler of the Emirate of Diriyah. He was the eldest son of Muhammad bin Saud and the son-in-law of Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab. Abdulaziz ruled the Emirate from 1765 until 1803. He was nicknamed by his people as the savior of his time (''mahdi zamanihi'' in Arabic) due to his fearless activities. Uyayna
Uyayna () is a village in central Saudi Arabia, located some northwest of the Saudi Capital (political), capital Riyadh. Uyayna was the birthplace of Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab. Today, Uyayna is a small village and forms together with its neighbor al-Jubayla the Subgovernorate of Uyayna and Al-Jubayla, with a combined population of 4,000. The subgovernorate is part of the Governorate of Dir'iyyah, which in turn is part of Riyadh Province. Location Uyayna is located inside the narrow, dry river-bed of Wadi Hanifa, which continues southwards through Dir'iyyah and Riyadh. The area where Uyayna is located was the homeland of Musaylima, who claimed to be a prophet following Muhammad's death in 632, and led his tribe, the Banu Hanifa, against the Muslim conquest of the area. Manfuhah
Manfuha () is an ancient village and a historic neighborhood in southern Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, located north of al-Masani and south of Skirina in the sub-municipality of al-Batʼha. Established on the edge of the narrow, fertile valley known as Wadi Hanifa, Manfuha was until the mid-20th century considered a twin village to the walled town of Riyadh, the current Saudi capital. Etymology Manfuhah derives from the Arabic word of ''nafaha'' (), which loosely translates to blowing wind or being fragrant. It was reportedly attributed to its climatic nature. Dhurma
Dhruma or Darma () is a small town located by road northwest of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It is the center of the small Dhurma Governorate of Riyadh Province, and had a population of 10,267 people according to the 2004 census. It lies in the wide Al-Batin valley, which it shares with its larger twin, Muzahmiyya. History The town appears in the 7th century poetry of Jarir as "Qarma" or "Garma", and is also mentioned by the same name in Yaqut's encyclopedia. Diriyah
Diriyah (; formerly romanization of Arabic, romanized as Dereyeh and Dariyya) is a towns in Saudi Arabia, town and governorate in Saudi Arabia. Located on the northwestern outskirts of the Saudi capital, Riyadh, Diriyah was the original home of the House of Saud, and served as the capital of the First Saudi state, Emirate of Diriyah under the first Saudi dynasty from 1727 to 1818.
