Expansion Records
Expansion Records is a British record label founded by Northern Soul DJ Richard Searling and Soul Bowl owner John Anderson. In 1989, DJ Author & Journalist Ralph Tee joined the label, both he and Searling run Expansion Records. Label history In 1986, Expansion released its first twelve-inch record with the catalogue ref: EXPAND1 (in 1986) - "Love Me Anyway" by US band WQBC (via a distribution deal with PRT). In 2004, Graphic Designer & DJ Simon Strutt rebranded the Expansion Records identity and created the 'e' logo to brand stamp each music release. In 2010, Expansion released EXPAND100 ("Weatherman" by Adriana Evans). BLACK LOGO EXPANSION
Black is a color which results from the absence or complete absorption of visible light. It is an achromatic color, without hue, like white and grey. James Ambrose Johnson Jr. (February 1, 1948 – August 6, 2004), better known by his stage name Rick James, was an American singer-songwriter, musician and record producer. Born and raised in Buffalo, New York, James began his musical career in his teenage years. He was in various bands before entering the U.S. Navy Reserve to avoid being drafted into the army. Leroy Hutson (born June 4, 1945) is an American soul and R&B singer, songwriter, arranger, producer and instrumentalist, best known as former lead singer of R&B vocal group The Impressions. Lewis Ronald McNeir (born December 14, 1951) is an American singer and songwriter. Biography McNeir was born in Camden, Alabama. As a solo artist, he recorded for the De-to, RCA, Prodigal, Motown, Capitol, Expansion and Motor City labels, recording his first song when he was seventeen. His friendship with Kim Weston, for whom he was musical director, led to his recording for RCA, then for moonlighting Motown Vice-President Barney Ales, the owner of the Prodigal label. Jean Carn, also spelled Jean Carne (born Sarah Jean Perkins; March 15, 1947) is an American jazz and pop singer. In mid career, she added a final ''e'' to her name. Carn is a vocalist credited with a five octave vocal range. Biography Carn was born Sarah Jean Perkins in Columbus, Georgia. At the age of four, she became a member of her church choir. Carn planned on furthering her studies at Juilliard School of Music in New York City when she met and married jazz pianist Doug Carn (the couple later divorced) and became a featured vocalist in his jazz fusion band. Howard Hewett Jr. (born October 1, 1955) is an American singer–songwriter. Hewett rose to fame as the lead vocalist of the group Shalamar. In 1985, he left the group to pursue his solo career, but he later returned to the group in 2001. He signed with Elektra Records. In 1986, he released his debut solo album ''I Commit to Love''.
