Exodus (musician)
George Lubega Timothy (born 8 June 1984) is a Ugandan singer known by his stage name Exodus. He made his musical debut in 2008 with his hit single "Ganja Man". Early life Exodus was raised by a single mother, who died when he was 10 years old. He was then taken in until he was 12 years old by his polygamous father. Exodus had to join the streets of Kampala after being rejected by his physically and mentally abusive father. At age 12 in 1996, he started feeding in dustbins, smoking marijuana, sniffing petrol and pickpocketing for a living around Katwe, Dewinton road and Owino market which was his base. In 2001, he left the streets for Nakulabye in Kiyaaye where together with a friend, Dan Kimuli, began a new life. It was Kimuli who suggested that he visit pastor Robert Kayanja's Miracle Centre church. Afrobeats
Afrobeats (not to be confused with Afrobeat or Afroswing), or Afro-pop or Afro-fusion (or Afropop or Afrofusion), is an umbrella term to describe popular music from West Africa and the diaspora that initially developed in Nigeria, Ghana, and the UK in the 2000s and 2010s. Afrobeats is less of a style per se, and more of a descriptor for the fusion of sounds flowing out of Ghana and Nigeria. Genres such as hiplife, jùjú music, highlife and naija beats, among others, were amalgamated under the 'Afrobeats' umbrella. Afrobeats is primarily produced in Lagos, Accra, and London. Robert Kayanja is the founder and senior pastor of the Miracle Centre Cathedral, a megachurch in Kampala. The MTV Africa Music Awards (also known as the MAMAs) were established in 2008 by MTV Networks Africa (now Viacom International Media Networks Africa) to celebrate the most popular contemporary music in Africa. Irene Gleeson
Irene Gleeson (30 December 1944 – 21 July 2013) was a Christian missionary to the children of Kitgum District, northern Uganda, whose lives were disrupted first by war then by HIV/AIDS.
