''Exits'' is a 1979 Australian drama-documentary directed by Paul Davies (writer), Paul Davies. It centres on the effect of the 1975 Australian constitutional crisis, 1975 dismissal of the Labor Government of Gough Whitlam on a handful of characters wandering around Melbourne. Paul Davies (writer)
Paul Michael Davies is an Australian television script writer, novelist and playwright, who has worked on a number of Crawford Productions, Crawford television series. He has written several plays for the Theatreworks (Melbourne), TheatreWorks theatre company, a leader in staging situation theatre. Television work Paul Michael Davies was born in Murwillumbah, New South Wales in 1949. He took his BA with Honours from the University of Queensland and his MA in 1973. He began tutoring at James Cook University before taking a script writing role at Crawford Productions, Crawford Television Productions in Melbourne, Melbourne, Australia in 1974. Gough Whitlam
Edward Gough Whitlam (11 July 191621 October 2014) was the 21st prime minister of Australia, serving from December 1972 to November 1975. To date the longest-serving federal leader of the Australian Labor Party (ALP), he was notable for being the head of a reformist and socially progressive government that ended with his controversial dismissal by the then- governor-general of Australia, Sir John Kerr, at the climax of the 1975 constitutional crisis. Whitlam remains the only Australian prime minister to have been removed from office by a governor-general. Whitlam was an air navigator in the Royal Australian Air Force for four years during World War II, and worked as a barrister following the war. "Home on the Range" ( Roud No. 3599) is an American folk song, sometimes called the "unofficial anthem" of the American West. Dr. Brewster M. Higley (also spelled Highley) of Smith County, Kansas, wrote the lyrics as the poem "My Western Home" in 1872 or 1873,Moanfeldt, Samuel (May 1935). ''The Dismissal'' is an Australian television miniseries, first screened in 1983, that dramatised the events of the 1975 Australian constitutional crisis. It was partly written and directed by the noted film makers George Miller and Phillip Noyce as well as ''Mad Max'' screenwriter Terry Hayes, with cinematography by Dean Semler. The miniseries comprised six one-hour episodes. It was originally broadcast by Network Ten, beginning on 6 March 1983 (the day after the 1983 federal election), and was also broadcast in the United Kingdom. It was voted the 19th-best Australian television show on the '' 50 Years 50 Shows'' list. In the 1970s, there were several attempts to make a film based on the same story called ''King Hit,'' written by Erwin Rado and Bruce Grant.
