Executive Suite (film)
''Executive Suite'' is a 1954 American Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer drama film directed by Robert Wise and written by Ernest Lehman, based on the 1952 novel of the same name by Cameron Hawley. The film stars William Holden, June Allyson, Barbara Stanwyck, Fredric March, Walter Pidgeon, Shelley Winters, Paul Douglas, Louis Calhern, Dean Jagger, and Nina Foch. The plot depicts the internal struggle for control of a furniture manufacturing company after the unexpected death of the company's president. ''Executive Suite'' was nominated for multiple Academy Awards, including for Nina Foch's performance, which earned a Best Supporting Actress nomination. Robert Earl Wise (September 10, 1914 – September 14, 2005) was an American filmmaker. He won the Academy Awards for Best Director and Best Picture for his musical films ''West Side Story'' (1961) and ''The Sound of Music'' (1965). He was also nominated for Best Film Editing for ''Citizen Kane'' (1941) and directed and produced '' The Sand Pebbles'' (1966), which was nominated for Best Picture. Mary Marguerite Adams also known as June Mary Adams (1910–1973) was an American actress. She is best known as a television character actor from the 1950s. Lucy Knoch (born June 30, 1923– July 22, 1990) was an American actress. Early years Knoch's parents were Mr. and Mrs. Beverly T. Knoch. Her father was a master plumber. She attended Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools, Central High School in Nashville, Tennessee. and was a member of the school's debate team. She also took dancing lessons, and she and her sister performed as a dance team at festivals in Tennessee. After she left high school she worked as a model at a photographic studio in Nashville. The sisters traveled west by car in 1943 and met actress Paulette Goddard during a stop in Tucson, Arizona. Timothy Daniel Considine (December 31, 1940 – March 3, 2022) was an American actor, writer, photographer, and automotive historian. The Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress is an award presented annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS). It has been awarded since the 9th Academy Awards to an actress who has delivered an outstanding performance in a supporting role in a film released that year. The award is traditionally presented by the previous year's Best Supporting Actor winner. However, in recent years, it has shifted towards being presented by previous years’ Best Supporting Actress winners instead. In lieu of the traditional Oscar statuette, supporting acting recipients were given plaques up until the 16th Academy Awards, when statuettes were awarded to each category instead.
