Excitement (film)
''Excitement'' is a 1924 American silent film, silent comedy film directed by Robert F. Hill and starring Laura La Plante. It was produced and distributed by Universal Pictures. Plot As described in a film magazine review, Nila Lyons, pretty and mischievous, is a worry to her parents, who want her to get married. She leaves home declaring that she will choose a spouse. After going through varied adventures, she marries a young chap who kisses and wins her when their motorcycle dashes into a lake. They agree to separate for a month each year. After Nila has passed through a number of exciting experiences, she settles down with her husband. Cast Preservation With no copies of ''Excitement'' found in any film archives, it is a lost film. Stanley Blystone
William Stanley Blystone (August 1, 1894 – July 16, 1956) was an American film actor who made more than 500 films appearances from 1924 to 1956. He was sometimes billed as William Blystone or William Stanley. Early years Blystone was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He was a steel production engineer and worked in ore mines before he became an actor. Career Blystone is best known for his appearance in Charlie Chaplin's '' Modern Times'', playing Paulette Goddard's father, and several short films starring The Three Stooges. Some of his more memorable roles were in the films '' Half Shot Shooters'', ''False Alarms'', '' Goofs and Saddles'', '' Three Little Twirps'' and '' Slaphappy Sleuths''. Lost Film
A lost film is a feature film, feature or short film in which the original negative or copies are not known to exist in any studio archive, private collection, or public archive. Films can be wholly or partially lost for a number of reasons. Early films were not thought to have value beyond their theatrical run, so many were discarded afterward. Nitrate film used in early pictures was highly flammable and susceptible to degradation. The Library of Congress began acquiring copies of American films in 1909, but not all were kept. Due to improvements in film technology and recordkeeping, few films produced in the 1950s or beyond have been lost. Rarely, but occasionally, films classified as lost are found in an uncataloged or miscataloged archive or private collection, becoming "rediscovered films".
