''Exchange Lifeguards'' (American title: ''Wet and Wild Summer!'') is a 1992 Australian-American comedy film directed by Maurice Murphy (director), Maurice Murphy and starring Christopher Atkins, Julian McMahon and Elliott Gould. Plot A property developer wants to take over an Australian beach for a high rise resort. He sends his son to Australia to check out the situation, posing as an exchange lifeguard. Maurice Murphy (director)
Maurice Brendan Murphy (born 1939 in Sydney) is an Australian film and television director, producer, writer and actor. He is best known for his influential work as a director of TV comedy programs for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation – most notably '' The Aunty Jack Show'' – and for his 1980 feature film adaptation of the Australian comic strip '' Fatty Finn''. After a month as a Melbourne University student, Murphy realised that his true calling was in the entertainment world. For the next three years, he financed his theatrical pursuits at The Little Theatre in South Yarra, by working at the Victorian Railways. In 1960, Murphy joined the Australian Broadcasting Commission (ABC) where he worked his way up to being a director: 'The ABC was a great training institute at that time, and a place which allowed me much creative freedom. Mark Hembrow (born 1955, in Brisbane) is an Australian actor, writer and musician. He has also has worked as a producer and director. Early life and family Hembrow's parents were Vernon Charles Hembrow, a senior English Literature Lecturer at the Teachers Training College at Kelvin Grove and Sally Hembrow, a daytime television personality and presenter and cooking specialist. Sally produced her own television show for QTQ9 on the Nine Network, 'Living Graciously', which aired from 1963-1973.
