Exarcheia Self-Organized Health Structure
Exarcheia Self-Organized Health Structure is a social solidarity initiative in Exarcheia neighborhood of Athens with the aim of providing medical care to people who need it. It is located in Κ*ΒΟΞ, a squatted building near Exarcheia square. On 21 April 2012, the building (which was neglected and not hosting any service) was captured by anarchists with the aim to transform it in a self-organized social center. Police tried to stop the capture of the building, but anarchists, helped by the residents of the neighborhood (which is known for its anti-authoritarian character), removed the metal sheets placed over the exterior by the police and the opening of the squat continued as planned. The structure is staffed by doctors of several specializations, psychologists, nurses, pharmacists and non-expert residents of the area (for the non-medical functions of the structure). Exarcheia
Exarcheia ( ) is a neighbourhood in central Athens, Greece close to the historical building of the National Technical University of Athens. Exarcheia took its name from a 19th-century businessman named Exarchos () who opened a large general store there. Exarcheia is bordered on the east by Kolonaki and is framed by Patission Street, Panepistimiou Street and Alexandras Avenue. Features The National Archaeological Museum of Athens, the National Technical University of Athens and Strefi Hill are all located in Exarcheia. Exarcheia Square
Exarcheia Square is located in the Exarcheia neighborhood of Athens and it is considered the center of the neighborhood. The square is a gathering place for people of all ages, but especially young people, and many activities organized by anti-authoritarian or anti-establishment groups take place there. The center of the square was decorated until September 2022 by a sculpture called "''Τρεις Έρωτες''" ("''Three Loves''"), dated back to 1909. The sculpture was removed due to the works for the construction of a metro station for the Line 4 of the Athens metro.
