Evosmos
Evosmos (, ''Évosmos''; before 1955: ''Neos Koukloutzas'' (Νέος Κουκλουτζάς, ''Néos Koukloutzás'')) is a suburb of the Thessaloniki Urban Area and was a former municipality in the regional unit of Thessaloniki, Macedonia, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Kordelio-Evosmos, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit. It has a land area of and its population is 79,221 (2021 census). Due to rapid development, the population has been growing fast. Most of the new development is taking place in the northern district of the municipality called Nea Politeia (New Town). History Evosmos' first dramatic increase in population occurred when refugees from Asia Minor settled in the area in the early 20th century. The settlement was originally a small village called in Turkish Harmanköy (Χαρμάνκιοϊ). Kordelio–Evosmos (, ''Kordelió-Évosmos'') is a municipality of the Thessaloniki Urban Area in the regional unit of Thessaloniki, Central Macedonia, Greece. The seat of the municipality is in Evosmos. Thessaloniki (regional Unit)
Thessaloniki ( ''Mitropolitiki enotita Thessaloníkis'', ''Metropolitan unit of Thessaloniki'') is one of the regional units of Greece. It is part of the Modern regions of Greece, Region of Central Macedonia and its capital is the city of Thessaloniki. Geography The regional unit stretches from the Thermaic Gulf in the southwest to the Strymonian Gulf, Strymonic Gulf in the east. Two bodies of water are located in the north, Lake Koroneia in the heart of the regional unit and Lake Volvi in the east. Aias Evosmou
Aias Evosmou is a Greek multi-sport club based in Evosmos, Thessaloniki. It was founded in 1967 and it has departments in various sports, football, basketball and volleyball. The full name of the club is Athlitikos Politistikos Syllogos Aias Evosmou/APS Aias Evosmou ( meaning Athletic Culture Association Aias Evosmou). The most successful department is the women's volleyball team that plays in A1 Ethniki. The team's colours are red and white and its emblem is the ancient Greek hero Aias. History Aias was founded in 1967 and it originally had only football team. Since 1979 the club opened a basketball team and since 1982 Aias opened the volleyball team. Agrotikos Asteras Football Club () is a Evosmos-based football club, currently playing in Gamma Ethniki. It was founded in 1932 by refugees from Asia Minor. History Agrotikos Asteras was founded from Greek refugees from Asia Minor, that formerly lived in Koukloutzas, Smyrni, . The idea of the club's establishment was conceived by a group of teenagers living in Neos Koukloutzas, Thessaloniki and it was assisted by a Greek army officer Dimitris Kodikakis. Its statute was handed to Greek court on 10 January 1930. The most important season for the team's history was 2005-2006, when the club won the trophy of Gamma Ethniki and achieved the semi-finals of the Greek Cup. The Thessaloniki metropolitan area or larger urban zone (LUZ) is the complete area covered and directly influenced by Thessaloniki. The metropolitan area traditionally consisted of the municipality of Thessaloniki and its immediate surroundings, which is today referred to as the Thessaloniki urban area. He is a member of the Hellenic Parliament and has been president of the Greek Solution political party since its foundation in 2016.
