Evo Car Share
Evo is a carsharing service in Greater Vancouver and Victoria, the British Columbia Automobile Association. The company offers exclusively Toyota Prius Hybrid vehicles with roof-top bike racks and features one-way point-to-point rentals. Users are charged by the minute, with hourly and daily rates available. Launched in March 2015, it currently serves most of Vancouver, and selected destinations in neighboring cities. In August 2021, the service was brought to Victoria. The company is considering moving into the Tri-Cities area in the future. The service concluded operations in the San Francisco Bay Area and Seattle on Thursday December 5, 2024. The cars are unlocked and locked using a near-field communication (NFC) card or the companion app. Users can be charged different rates depending on the plan chosen. Modo is a member-owned carshare operator in British Columbia. It was incorporated in 1997, making it the oldest car-sharing organization in the area, the first carshare co-op in North America and the first carshare in the English-speaking world. Modo amalgamated with the Victoria Carshare Co-op in 2015 and now serves 25 municipalities in the Lower Mainland and Greater Victoria. Share Now GmbH was a German carsharing company, formed from the merger of Car2Go and DriveNow. The ''Tri-City News'' was a Canadian online community based in Port Coquitlam and published by Glacier Media, and serving the Tri-Cities region of British Columbia's Lower Mainland. It was established in 1985 as a weekly printed newspaper. In the 2008 Better Newspapers Competition from the Canadian Community Newspapers Association, the Tri-City News took second place in "Best All-Round Newspaper" for large circulation newspapers, and won the "Best Front Page" category.
