Evjemoen
Evjemoen was a Norwegian military camp in use from 1912 to 2002. The camp lies south of the village of Evje in Evje og Hornnes municipality in Agder county. From 1953 to 1995, Evjemoen was used as a training area for the ''Infanteriets øvingsavdeling II (IØ2)''. The camp was retired in December 2002. History Evjemoen was established in 1912 for the Rogaland Infantry Regiment (IR8) during the First World War. During the Second World War, the Germans occupied and enlarged the camp. Evjemoen served as a Norwegian military camp and a boot camp for the infantry until the closure in 2002. In 1979-1980, the future Norwegian prime minister and Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg served his military conscription at Evjemoen. Evje (village)
Evje is the administrative centre of Evje og Hornnes municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located along the river Otra. It sits along the Norwegian National Road 9, about south of the village of Byglandsfjorden and immediately north of Evjemoen, a former military base. Historically, the village of Evje was the administrative centre of the municipality of Evje og Vegusdal from 1838 until 1877, then from 1877 until 1960 it was the administrative centre of the municipality of Evje, and since then it has been the centre of Evje og Hornnes municipality. The Evje Church lies on the north end of the village on the east shore of the river Otra, and the Hornnes Church lies about to the south on the west shore of the river Otra. Evje og Hornnes is a municipality in Agder county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Setesdal. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Evje. Other villages in the municipality include Åneland, Dåsnesmoen, Flatebygd, Gautestad, Hornnes, Kjetså, and Øvre Dåsvatn. Evje og Hornnes was created as a new municipality on 1 January 1960 after the merger of the two older municipalities of Evje and Hornnes. Jens Stoltenberg
Jens Stoltenberg (born 16 March 1959) is a Norwegian politician who has been serving as the 13th secretary general of NATO since 2014. A member of the Norwegian Labour Party, he previously served as the 34th prime minister of Norway from 2000 to 2001, and again from 2005 until 2013. Otra
The Otra is the largest river in the Sørlandet region of Norway. It begins in Setesdalsheiene mountains at the lake Breidvatnet in Bykle municipality in Agder county, just south of the border with Vinje municipality in Vestfold og Telemark county. The river then flows south through Bykle, Valle, Bygland, Evje og Hornnes, Iveland, Vennesla, and Kristiansand municipalities. The river empties into the Skagerrak in the center of the city of Kristiansand on the southern coast of Norway. The Otra is long, making it Norway's eighth-longest river. There are many large lakes along the river including: Åraksfjorden, Byglandsfjorden, Hartevatnet, and Kilefjorden. There are 12 hydroelectric power plants built along the river, which produce much of the electricity for the southern part of Norway. Setesdal
Setesdal (; older name: Sætersdal) is a valley and a traditional district in Agder County in southern Norway. It consists of the municipalities of Bykle, Valle, Bygland, Iveland, and Evje og Hornnes. The Otra river flows through the valley of Setesdal into the sea near Kristiansand. It flows southward from the Hardangervidda plateau in Telemark. The historic Setesdal starts at Evje and extends as far as the farm Bjåen, at the edge of the traditional region of Telemark. Øvre (Upper) Setesdal is in the municipality of Bykle.
