Eveline Peterson
Eveline Grace Peterson (17 January 1877 – 1944) was an English female badminton player. She mainly competed in the All England Open Badminton Championships, Scottish Open and Irish Open from the 1910s to the late 1920s. Peterson was born in Jalpaiguri, British India, to civil servant Frederick William Voysey Peterson and Mary Ann Jefford Hopewell. The family later moved to 12 Ildersly Grove in Dulwich. She achieved her maiden Championship title in her career after claiming the women's doubles title during the 1914 All England Badminton Championships partnering with Margaret Tragett. Jalpaiguri
Jalpaiguri is a city in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is the headquarters of the Jalpaiguri district as well as of the Jalpaiguri division of West Bengal, covering the jurisdiction of the five districts of North Bengal. The city is located on the banks of the Teesta River which is the second largest river in West Bengal after the Ganges, on the foothills of the Himalayas. Frank Devlin
Joseph Francis Devlin (19 January 1900 – 27 October 1988) was an Irish male badminton player. Badminton career Devlin is the second most successful player ever in the All England Open Badminton Championships with 18 titles between 1925 and 1931, including three triple championships in 1926, 1927 and 1929. He also won four Irish Championships. Despite being Irish he was part of the English team that toured Canada in 1925 to promote the sport on behalf of the Canadian Badminton Association which had recently been formed in 1921. He was living in Beckenham, Kent and worked as a Salesman. He was also part of a second English touring team that visited Canada during 1930. A match was held at the Granite Club in Toronto which England won 7–2. Margaret Tragett
Margaret Rivers Tragett (née Larminie) was a former English badminton player. She competed in the All England Championships from 1902 until 1933 and was the winner of eleven titles. She gained fifteen caps for England and was also editor of the 'Gazette' a popular badminton publication. After marrying Robert Tragett in 1911 she competed under her married name of Margaret Tragett. The 1914 All England Open Badminton Championships was a badminton tournament held at the Royal Horticultural Hall, Westminster, England from 3 March to 8 March 1914. It would be the last Championship before being suspended for the duration of World War I. Defending champion Guy Sautter continued to play under the alias of U N Lappin and successfully defended his title. Lavinia Radeglia emulated Sautter by retaining her women's singles title. In the Men's doubles Frank Chesterton & George Thomas retained the title. The instances of an alias being used continued, in addition to Sautter playing as Lappin, Archibald Engelbach played as A. Dulwich
Dulwich (; ) is an area in south London, England. The settlement is mostly in the London Borough of Southwark, with parts in the London Borough of Lambeth, and consists of Dulwich Village, East Dulwich, West Dulwich, and the Southwark half of Herne Hill (which is often referred to as the North Dulwich triangle).
