Evangel Hospital () is a non-profit Christian Community Hospital in Ma Tau Wai was established in 1965. It was founded by Evangelical Free Church of America and the Evangelical Free Church of China. The Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA) is a denomination in the Evangelical Protestant tradition. The EFCA was formed in 1950 from the merger of the Swedish Evangelical Free Church and the Norwegian-Danish Evangelical Free Church Association. Ma Tau Wai Estate
Ma Tau Wai Estate () is a public housing estate in Ma Tau Wai, Kowloon, Hong Kong. It is the oldest existing public housing estate in Kowloon City District and it consists of five residential blocks completed in 1962 and 1965. Although it was developed by Hong Kong Housing Authority, it is currently managed by Hong Kong Housing Society. Background The location of the estate was partly the location of the Ma Tau Chung Camp during World War II. In 2007, the Housing Authority found that all buildings in the estate were structurally sound. Thus, structural repair and improvement works will be carried out to sustain the buildings for the next 15 years. Ma Tau Wai (, originally , historically ) is an area in the Kowloon City District, Kowloon, Hong Kong. It was originally a walled village (Cantonese: ''Wai'') between present-day Argyle Street and Prince Edward Road West, east of present-day St. Teresa's Hospital. The area of Ma Tau Wai is not as well-defined as the original village, as the geographic features have been lost. The public housing estate Ma Tau Wai Estate is named after the area / the original village. Other landmark of the areas Hong Kong's Notre Dame College is in Ma Tau Wai. Evangelical Free Church of China (EFCC) is a Chinese Protestant denomination historically based in Mainland China and Hong Kong. It is today one of the largest evangelical denominations in Hong Kong. History In 1887, the Swedish American Hans J. von Qualen of the Evangelical Free Church of America became the denomination's first missionary to China. After a short period of language study in Canton, von Qualen established the mission's first chapel in 1888 outside the city of Canton in Henan province as a base for evangelism. Argyle Street is a four-lane dual-way thoroughfare in Kowloon, Hong Kong, connecting the districts of Mong Kok, Ho Man Tin, Ma Tau Wai and Kowloon City. It runs on an east-west alignment starting at its intersection with Cherry Street, Ferry Street and Tong Mi Road in the west, and ending near the former Kai Tak Airport in the east.
