Evan Llewelyn
Evan John Llewelyn (30 June 1875 – 11 June 1967) was an Australian politician. He was the Labor member for Toowoomba in the Legislative Assembly of Queensland from 1925 to 1929 and from 1932 to 1935. He was the son of Henry Llewellyn, who was a member of the Queensland Legislative Council from 1917 to 1922. After leaving school he worked in his father's Gympie newsagency, at South Bingera sugar mill and at the Queensland Meat Export Company in Pinkenba. In 1901 he joined the Citizens Forces as an ambulance bearer and later that year joined the Queensland Ambulance Service Transport Brigade in Brisbane. Toowoomba was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland. The seat was in Toowoomba. History The seat had two incarnations. The first was from 1873 to 1878 and the second from 1912 to 1960. In 1873, it was created by renaming the electoral district of Drayton & Toowoomba. Henry Llewellyn (Queensland Politician)
Henry Llewelyn (12 September 1855 – 6 August 1933) was a member the Queensland Legislative Council. Llewelyn was born at Merthyr Tydfil, Wales, to Henry Llewelyn and his wife Elizabeth. He arrived in Australia in 1885 and headed to Gympie to work as a gold miner. In later years he opened a bookshop and stationer which he ran for 34 years. Political career When the Labour Party starting forming governments in Queensland, it found much of its legislation being blocked by a hostile Council, where members had been appointed for life by successive conservative governments. After a failed referendum in May 1917, Premier Ryan tried a new tactic, and later that year advised the Governor, Sir Hamilton John Goold-Adams, to appoint thirteen new members whose allegiance lay with Labour to the Council. South Bingera, Queensland
South Bingera is a rural residential locality in the Bundaberg Region, Queensland, Australia. In the South Bingera had a population of 661 people. Geography South Bingera is south-west of Bundaberg on the Isis Highway. The locality is bounded to the west and north by the Burnett River and to the east by the Isis Highway (also known as Childers Road). The terrain varies from above sea level. Historically Bingera Crossing is a ford over the Burnett River (), but it is unlikely to be used now as there is a bridge on Cedars Road over the river ().
