Evan LeRoy Johnson
Evan LeRoy Johnson is an American operatic tenor who has appeared internationally at leading opera houses and festivals, based at the Bavarian State Opera since 2021. His leading roles include Bizet's Don José and Puccini's Rodolfo and Pinkerton. His performance as the Prince in Dvořák's ''Rusalka'' at the Glyndebourne was recorded on video. Lothar Koenigs (born 1965 in Aachen, Germany) is a German conductor. Biography Koenigs grew up in Aachen, in West Germany; as a young boy, he was a chorister at Aachen Cathedral, where he sang all of Anton Bruckner's masses and motets, and developed a special affinity for Bruckner's music. Koenigs received his general secondary education at Aachen's Kaiser-Karls-Gymnasium, while studying piano and conducting at the Cologne Conservatory. Career After his studies, he held appointments in Hagen, Münster and Bonn. From 2000 to 2003, he was ''Generalmusikdirektor'' (GMD) at the Osnabrück Theatre. Requiem (Verdi)
The ''Messa da Requiem'' is a musical setting of the Catholic funeral mass (Requiem) for four soloists, double choir and orchestra by Giuseppe Verdi. It was composed in memory of Alessandro Manzoni, whom Verdi admired, and therefore also referred to as the ''Manzoni Requiem''. The first performance, at the San Marco church in Milan on 22 May 1874, conducted by the composer, marked the first anniversary of Manzoni's death. It was followed three days later by the same performers at La Scala. Verdi conducted his work at major venues in Europe. Verdi composed the last part of the text, ''Libera me'', first, as his contribution to the '' Messa per Rossini'' that he had begun after Gioachino Rossini had died, already contained the music that later begins the ''Dies irae'' sequence. Heather Engebretson (born February 21, 1990) is a Chinese-American operatic soprano who made a career mostly in Europe. Based at German opera ensembles for several years, she has worked freelance since 2017, and widened her repertoire from coloratura roles to leading characters such as Puccini's Madama Butterfly. Robin Ticciati (born 16 April 1983, in London) is a British conductor of Italian ancestry. Biography Ticciati's paternal grandfather, Niso Ticciati, was a composer, arranger, cellist, and keyboardist. His father is a barrister, and his mother is a therapist. His older brother Hugo Ticciati is a violinist, and his sister is a theology professor. As a youth, Ticciati studied violin, piano and percussion, and was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. He began conducting at age 15 whilst attending St Paul's School. Ticciati read music at Clare College, University of Cambridge.
