Euzko Gaztedi
Euzko Gaztedi Indarra-EGI (Basque Language, Basque for "Basque Youth Force") is the youth wing of the main Basque nationalist political party, the Basque National Party (EAJ-PNV). Their presence is limited to the Basque Country, encompassing the Basque Autonomous Community, the Chartered Community of Navarre and Northern Basque Country. Its statutes define it as a solely Basque organisation advocating for democracy, political plurality and participation, independence and humanism, looking to achieve a framework of respect for the identity and sovereignty of peoples and human rights. José Antonio Aguirre y Lecube (6 March 1904 – 22 March 1960) was a Basques, Basque politician and activist in the Basque Nationalist Party. He was the first president of the Provisional Government of the Basque Country and the executive defense advisor during the Spanish Civil War. Under his mandate, the Provisional Government formed the Euzko Gudarostea, Basque Army and fought for the Second Spanish Republic. Early life José Antonio Aguirre was born in Bilbao, Biscay, Spain.
