The Eurovision Song Contest 1962 was the 7th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, held on 18 March 1962 in the of the Villa Louvigny in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg and presented by Mireille Delannoy. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster (CLT), and originally known as the (), the contest was held in following the country's victory at the with the song "Nous les amoureux" by Jean-Claude Pascal. Sixteen countries participated in the event, with the same line-up of nations as at the previous year's contest. Villa Louvigny
Villa Louvigny is a building in Luxembourg City, in southern Luxembourg, that served as the headquarters of Compagnie Luxembourgeoise de Télédiffusion, the forerunner of RTL Group. It is located in the Municipal Park, in the Ville Haute quarter of the city. François Deguelt
François Deguelt (, born Louis Deghelt; 4 December 1932 – 22 January 2014) was a French singer, best known for his participation on behalf of Monaco in the Eurovision Song Contests of 1960 and 1962. Biography Deguelt gave up his studies to become a cabaret singer in Paris in the early 1950s. In 1956, he was the winner of the Grand Prix du Disque of the Académie Charles Cros. Following a period of military service in Algeria, Deguelt returned to France, and was offered the chance in 1960 to sing for Monaco in the fifth Eurovision Song Contest, held in London on 29 March. Deguelt's song " Ce soir-là" ("That Night") proved popular with the juries, finishing in third place of the 13 entrants. Deguelt returned to Eurovision, again representing Monaco, in 1962 with the song " Dis rien" ("Say Nothing"). Marion Rung
Marion Rung (born 7 December 1945) is a Finland, Finnish pop singer. She is known for having represented Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1962 and 1973. Her 1962 Eurovision song placed 7th, and in 1973, she managed to bring Finland's second best result in the contest until 2006 by finishing in 6th place. She also won the Grand Prix of the Sopot International Song Festival in 1974 and the Intervision Song Contest 1980 with "Where is the Love." ARD is a joint organisation of Germany's regional Public broadcasting, public-service broadcasters. It was founded in 1950 in West Germany to represent the common interests of the new, decentralised, post-war broadcasting services—in particular the introduction of a joint television network. Claudio Villa
Claudio Villa (born Claudio Pica; 1 January 1926 – 7 February 1987) was an Italian singer and actor. Biography Tenor Claudio Villa was born Claudio Pica in the Trastevere quarter of Rome in 1926. He recorded over 3000 songs, sold 45 million records, and appeared in 25 musicals during his career. His parents gave him the name "Claudio" in honour of Claudio Serio. Many songs made famous by Villa, like "'A Tazza 'E Cafe'," were recorded for the Fonit Cetra label. Villa died in 1987; on his gravestone are the words "Vita sei bella, morte fai schifo" (''"Life, you are fine; death, you stink"''). Ronnie Carroll
Ronnie Carroll (born Ronald Cleghorn; 18 August 1934 – 13 April 2015) was a Northern Irish singer, entertainer and political candidate. Music career Carroll was born Ronald Cleghorn in 116 Roslyn Street, Belfast, Northern Ireland, in 1934, the son of a plumber. In January 1954, 19-year-old Ronnie Cleghorn was appearing in a variety show at the Town Hall, Portadown billed as Belfast's Nat King Cole and the show went on to play at several locations in Northern Ireland. Coming across to England, Cleghorn joined a show called "Hollywood Stars" at the Queen's in Blackpool in March 1954 in which the cast gave impressions of trans-Atlantic screen personalities. Rosa Mina Schärer (3 March 1924 – 24 March 2018), known by her stage name Lys Assia, was a Swiss singer who won the first Eurovision Song Contest in .
