European Reformists
European Reformists (''Riformisti Europei'', RE) was a social-democratic think tank, which functioned as a faction within The People of Freedom, a political party in Italy. RE aimed at "promoting the culture of liberal and socialist reformism in the context of a Europe aware of its role in the new international scenarios" and was composed mainly of former members of the Italian Democratic Socialist Party ( Carlo Vizzini, president) and the Italian Socialist Party (Anna Bonfrisco, Giampiero Cantoni and others). The group can be considered the continuation of the Clubs of Reformist Initiative, the faction Vizzini headed within Forza Italia. In November 2011 Vizzini abruptly left the PdL in order to join the new Italian Socialist Party. The People Of Freedom
The People of Freedom (, PdL) was a centre-right political party in Italy. The PdL launched by Silvio Berlusconi as an electoral list, including and National Alliance, on 27 February for the 2008 Italian general election. The list was later transformed into a party during a party congress on 27–29 March 2009. Italian Democratic Socialist Party
The Italian Democratic Socialist Party (, PSDI), also known as Italian Social Democratic Party, was a social-democratic political party in Italy. The longest serving partner in government for Christian Democracy, the PSDI was an important force in Italian politics, before the 1990s decline in votes and members. The party's founder and longstanding leader was Giuseppe Saragat, who served as President of the Italian Republic from 1964 to 1971. Carlo Vizzini
Carlo Vizzini (born 28 April 1947 in Palermo) is an Italian politician. He was involved in the corruption scandal of Tangentopoli. Vizzini was found guilty but benefited from the statute of limitations and did not serve his sentence. Political life Vizzini was secretary of the Italian Democratic Socialist Party (PSDI) from 1992 to 1993, during which time he founded (along with Bettino Craxi of the Italian Socialist Party and Achille Occhetto of the Democratic Party of the Left) the Italian branch of the Party of European Socialists (PES). The Clubs of Reformist Initiative (''Circoli di Iniziativa Riformista'') was a social-democratic faction within Forza Italia, a political party in Italy. Its members were mainly former members of the Italian Democratic Socialist Party (PSDI), a centrist social-democratic party which had been a minor but influential political force in Italy between 1947 and 1994.
