European Open Championship
The European Open is a European Tour golf tournament. Founded in 1978, up to 1994 it was played at various courses in England, including Sunningdale and Walton Heath, except for the 1979 event, which was held at Turnberry in Scotland. Between 1995 and 2007 the tournament was held at the K Club in Straffan, Ireland, before moving again in 2008, this time to the Jack Nicklaus-designed Heritage course at the London Golf Club near Sevenoaks Sevenoaks is a town in Kent with a population of 29,506, situated south-east of London, England. Winsen (Luhe)
Winsen (Luhe) () is the capital of the district of Harburg, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated on the small river Luhe, near its confluence with the Elbe, approx. 25 km southeast of Hamburg, and 20 km northwest of Lüneburg. History Winsen was first mentioned in a document of the Diocese of Verden in 1158. Winsen Castle, first mentioned in 1315, was built at a crossing over the Luhe to protect the harbour. At the beginning of the 15th century, the Church of Saint Mary was built. In 1593, Dorothea of Denmark, widow of William the Younger, moved into Winsen Castle and lived there until her death in 1617. The 2023 European Tour, titled as the 2023 DP World Tour for sponsorship reasons, was the 52nd season of the European Tour, the main professional golf tour in Europe since its inaugural season in 1972. It was the second season of the tour under a title sponsorship agreement with DP World, that was announced in November 2021. Changes for 2023 Player Earnings Assurance Programme In November 2022, alongside the schedule release, the tour announced that they would introduce a "Player Earnings Assurance Programme", which would guarantee minimum earnings of US$150,000 for all exempt players from categories 1–17 if they competed in at least 15 tournaments. Bernd Wiesberger
Bernd Klaus Wiesberger (; born 8 October 1985) is an Austrian professional golfer who plays on the European Tour and formerly on the LIV Golf League. He finished the 2019 European Tour season in third place on the Race to Dubai standings, his best finish to date. In July 2015, when he won the Alstom Open de France, Wiesberger became the most successful Austrian golfer on the European Tour with three tour victories. He has since extended his record and is an eight-time winner on the European Tour. He also played in the 2021 Ryder Cup. Amateur career Wiesberger was born in Vienna. Thriston Lawrence (born 3 December 1996) is a South African professional golfer who currently plays on the PGA Tour, European Tour and the Sunshine Tour. He has won four times on the European Tour. Professional career Lawrence turned professional in 2014. He played on the MENA Tour in 2015 and the Challenge Tour in 2016. He won the MENA Tour Order of Merit in 2015. He played on the Big Easy Tour in 2018, gaining his card for the 2019–20 Sunshine Tour season. He won his first Sunshine Tour event in 2019 at the Vodacom Origins of Golf at Stellenbosch. Bad Griesbach
Bad Griesbach im Rottal (, ; ), or just Bad Griesbach, is a town in the district of Passau in Bavaria in Germany. History "Burg Griesbach" is first mentioned in a document from around 1076. The place was part of Landshut. It was raided and destroyed by an army from the Electorate of the Palatinate in 1504, only to be re-erected soon afterwards. The K Club
The Kildare Hotel and Golf Club (abbreviated The K Club) is a golf and leisure complex located in Straffan, County Kildare, Ireland. It is built on the original grounds of the Straffan estate, incorporating the 1830s Straffan House. It was previously owned by Michael Smurfit, before being sold to Michael Fetherston in 2020. History In 1831, Hugh Barton of the wine firm Barton and Guestier bought land at Straffan and nearby Barberstown Castle from the Henry family and had Straffan House built whilst he and his wife stayed at Barberstown. Completed in 1832, the design was based on a French chateau, with the later addition of a bell-tower, and now forms the east wing of the present complex.
