Konstantin Adolfovich Semendyayev (; 9 December 1908, Simferopol – 15 November 1988, Moscow) was a Soviet engineer and applied mathematician. He worked in the department of applied mathematics of the Steklov Institute in Moscow. He carried out pioneering work in the area of numerical weather forecasting in the Soviet Union. Biography Semendyayev studied at the Lomonosov University with the degree in 1929 and was then at various higher schools. Ilya Nikolaevich Bronshtein (, , also written as ; born 1903, died 1976) was a Russian applied mathematician and historian of mathematics. Work and life Bronshtein taught at the Moscow State Technical University (MAMI), then the State College of Mechanical Engineering, on the Chair of Advanced Mathematics established in 1939. He also collaborated at the Zhukovsky Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute. Haan () is a town in the district of Mettmann, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is situated at the western edge of the Bergisches Land, 12 km southwest of Wuppertal and 17 km east of Düsseldorf. In 1975, Gruiten was incorporated into Haan.
