EuroBasket 2015 Group D
Group D of the EuroBasket 2015 took place between 5 and 10 September 2015. The group played all of its games at Arena Riga in Riga, Latvia. The group is composed of Belgium, Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Ukraine. The four best ranked teams advanced to the second round. EuroBasket 2015
EuroBasket 2015 was the 39th edition of the EuroBasket championship that was organized by FIBA Europe. It was co-hosted by Croatia, France, Germany, and Latvia, making it the first EuroBasket held in more than one country. It started on 5 September and ended on 20 September 2015. The top two teams ( and ) qualified to the Basketball at the 2016 Summer Olympics – Men's tournament, 2016 Summer Olympics. The next five teams (, , , and the ) advanced to the 2016 FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournaments for Men, World Olympic Qualifying Tournaments. and later qualified due to Serbia and Italy hosting two of the Olympic qualifying tournaments while also qualified as an invitee. Spain won their third title by defeating Lithuania 80–63 in the final. France won bronze on home soil defeating Serbia (81–68). Rolands Freimanis
Rolands Freimanis (born January 21, 1988) is a Latvian professional basketball player for Trefl Sopot of the Polish Basketball League. He plays at the power forward and center positions. Professional career Born in Gulbene, Latvia, Freimanis started his career with ASK Rīga where he played until 2008. For the 2008–09 season he went to BK VEF Rīga. After one season there his contract was bought-out by CB Sevilla as he spent next season playing for their farm-club Qalat Cajasol. Following two years from 2010 till 2012 he played in LEB Gold league with short stint in Spanish ACB League with Lagun Aro GBC. Kristaps Janičenoks
Kristaps Janičenoks (born March 14, 1983) is a Latvian professional basketball player who currently plays for VEF Rīga. He also plays for the Latvian national basketball team. Playing career Janičenoks first gained attention as a high scoring teenager at the 1999 FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship. He was the second leading overall scorer at the tournament, averaging 23.5 points per game and was named to All-Tournament Team. Shortly thereafter, he started his career in Latvian Basketball League with Brocēni. In 2001, after finishing high-school in Latvia he received multiple offers from NCAA D1 schools, choosing George Washington as the place where he will play. Kaspars Bērziņš
Kaspars Bērziņš (born 25 August 1985) is a Latvian professional basketball player for New Taipei CTBC DEA of the T1 League. He has also represented the senior Latvian national team. Professional career Kaspars started playing basketball in his hometown of Ogre. Later he played for Skonto Riga, debuting in 2002–2003 season. His role increased in 2003–2004, when he averaged 7.3 points and 3.3 rebounds for Skonto in the LBL and 7.3 points and 3.0 rebounds in the FIBA Europe League, now known as the FIBA EuroCup. In both of those seasons Bērziņš played together with Andris Biedriņš. In 2004 both of them left Skonto. Biedriņš was drafted in the NBA by the Golden State Warriors, while Bērziņš moved to Spain where he joined Unicaja Málaga. Jonathan Tabu
Jonathan Tabu (born 7 October 1985) is a Belgian professional basketball player who last played for Vanoli Cremona of the Italian Serie A2. Tabu also represents Belgium in international competition. Professional career In 2004 Tabu made the team of Spirou Charleroi, while he also played for the second division team CPH Spirou Gilly. He would win three Belgian Championships with Spirou. Sten-Timmu Sokk (born 14 February 1989) is an Estonian professional basketball player for Charilaos Trikoupis Messolonghi B.C. of the Greek A2 Basket League. He is a 1.84 m (6 ft 0 in) tall point guard. He represents the Estonian national basketball team internationally. Rain Veideman (born 1 October 1991) is an Estonian professional basketball player for BC Tallinna Kalev of the Korvpalli Meistriliiga. He also represents the Estonian national basketball team internationally. Standing at a height of 1.92 m (6 ft 4 in), he primarily plays the shooting guard position. Jerome J. Randle (born May 21, 1987) is an American-Ukrainian professional basketball player who last played for Metropolitans 92 of the LNB Pro A. He played college basketball for the California Golden Bears before playing professionally in Turkey, Israel, Ukraine, Belgium, Australia, Lithuania, France, Germany and Russia. Mantas Kalnietis (born 6 September 1986) is a Lithuanian former professional basketball player who last played for Žalgiris Kaunas of the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) and the EuroLeague. He was also a member of the Lithuanian national basketball team. He would preferably take the point guard position, but could play shooting guard as well. Jonas Valančiūnas
Jonas Valančiūnas ( ; ; born 6 May 1992) is a Lithuanian professional basketball player for the New Orleans Pelicans of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was selected by the Toronto Raptors with the fifth overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft. At the 2019 trade deadline, he was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies.
