Eur J Biochem
''The FEBS Journal'' is a biweekly peer-reviewed scientific journal published by John Wiley & Sons on behalf of the Federation of European Biochemical Societies. It covers research on all aspects of biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, and the molecular bases of disease. The editor-in-chief is Seamus Martin (Trinity College Dublin), who took over from Richard Perham (University of Cambridge) in 2014. Content is available for free 1 year after publication, except review content, which is available immediately. The journal also publishes special and virtual issues focusing on a specific theme. Since 2021, the journal has given an annual award, "The FEBS Journal Richard Perham Prize", for an outstanding research paper published in the journal. The winners receive a €5,000 cash prize (to be divided equally between the first and last authors) and the senior author of the study is invited to give a talk at the FEBS Annual Congress. Seamus Martin (biochemist)
Seamus J. Martin is an Irish molecular biologist and immunologist working at The Smurfit Institute of Genetics in Trinity College Dublin. Since 1999, he has held the Smurfit Chair of Medical Genetics at Trinity College Dublin, and his research focuses on the links between cell death, cell stress, and inflammation. Martin is known for his contributions to understanding the molecular control of the mode of regulated cell death known as apoptosis. Martin received the 'GlaxoSmithKline Award' of the Biochemical Society in 2006, the British Science Association's 'Charles Darwin Award' in 2005, and The 'RDS-Irish Times Boyle Medal' in 2014, for his work on deciphering the role of caspases in apoptosis. In 2006, he was elected to the Royal Irish Academy, in 2009 he awarded EMBO Membership, and in 2023 he was elected to the Academia Europaea. Academic Search is a monthly indexing service. It was first published in 1997 by EBSCO Publishing in Ipswich, Massachusetts. EMBiology
EmBiology (formerly EMBiology) is a web-based Software as a service tool from Elsevier in which researchers can view biological relationships between entities, such as genes, proteins, and cells. Launched in 2023, EmBiology queries a Biological Knowledge Graph with 1.4 million entities connected by 15.7 million relationships. It uses a Sankey diagram to visualize search findings, and displays "snippets" of text from relevant scientific literature. ''Current Contents'' is a rapid alerting service database from Clarivate, formerly the Institute for Scientific Information and Thomson Reuters. It is published online and in several different printed subject sections. History ''Current Contents'' was first published in paper format, in a single edition devoted only to biology and medicine. Other subject editions were added later. Initially, it consisted simply of a reproduction of the title pages from several hundred major peer-reviewed scientific journals, and was published weekly, with the issues containing title pages from journal issues only a few weeks previously, a shorter time lag than any service then available. There was an author index and a crude keyword subject index only. Author addresses were provided so readers could send reprint requests for copies of the actual articles. Cambridge Scientific Abstracts (later simply CSA) was a division of Cambridge Information Group and provider of online databases, based in Bethesda, Maryland, before merging with ProQuest of Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 2007. Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) is a division of the American Chemical Society. It is a source of chemical information and is located in Columbus, Ohio, United States. Print periodicals ''Chemical Abstracts'' is a periodical index that provides numerous tools such as SciFinder as well as tagged keywords, summaries, indexes of disclosures, and structures of compounds in recently published scientific documents.
