St Eunan's College
St Eunan's College ( ; ), known locally as The College to distinguish it from the cathedral and GAA club, is a voluntary Roman Catholic all-male, English-medium secondary day school (and former boarding school) in County Donegal, Ireland. It is located upon Sentry Hill in Letterkenny. Named after Adomnán or Eunan (the Abbot of Iona who was native to Tír Chonaill, mainly modern County Donegal, and is patron saint of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Raphoe), the school's foundation stone was laid on the patron saint's feast day of 23 September. Its buildings and grounds include the College Chapel, a medial courtyard and playing fields. Architectural features include four turreted round towers and flying buttresses which are modelled on the nearby Cathedral. St Eunans GAA ( ; or ''Naomh Adhamhnáin'') is a dual club which plays hurling and Gaelic football. Its home ground is O'Donnell Park in Letterkenny. It fields 35 teams, making it the biggest club in its county. One of the strongholds of Gaelic football in County Donegal, the club has won the joint most Donegal Senior Football Championship titles (along with Gaoth Dobhair, which has also won 15). Considered Donegal's most prolific club, it is renowned for its conveyor belt-like consistency in producing players of senior inter-county quality, including numerous All-Ireland winners. Eunan Charles O'Kane ( ; born 10 July 1990) is a former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Born in Northern Ireland, O'Kane represented the Republic of Ireland at international level. Born in Northern Ireland, he represented the country at various youth international levels before switching to the Republic of Ireland at U21. He was named as a standby for Republic of Ireland national team's squad for Euro 2016 without being included in the final 23-man squad for the tournament. Adomnán
Adomnán or Adamnán of Iona (; , ''Adomnanus''; 624 – 704), also known as Eunan ( ; from ), was an abbot of Iona Abbey ( 679–704), hagiographer, statesman, canon jurist, and Christian saint, saint. He was the author of the ''Life of Columba'' (), probably written between 697 and 700. This biography is by far the most important surviving work written in early-medieval Scotland, and is a vital source for our knowledge of the Picts, and an insight into the life of Iona and the early-medieval Gaels, Gaelic monk. Adomnán promulgated the Cáin Adomnáin, Law of Adomnán or "Law of Innocents" (). He also wrote the treatise ('On Holy Places'), an account of the great Christian holy places and centres of pilgrimage. Eunan O'Halpin ( ) is Bank of Ireland Professor of Contemporary Irish History at Trinity College Dublin. He was educated at acDara’s Community College, received his BA and MA from University College Dublin and received a PhD from the University of Cambridge. O'Halpin specialises in 20th century Irish and British history and politics. Since 2002, he has been a member of the National Archives Advisory Council. He is also a member of the Royal Irish Academy National Committee for History, the Royal Irish Academy National Committee for the Study of International Relations and of the Katherine Kavanagh Trust.
