Eugène Godfried
Eugène Edward Godfried Presilia (23 October 1952 – 29 March 2009) was a black Curaçao-born political activist and broadcaster. Educated in the Netherlands, he earned a degree in social services and spoke many languages, including English, French, Spanish, Papiamento, and Haitian Creole, which aided him as he interviewed foreign dignitaries. As a leader of the Action Committee for a Socialist Movement he participated in the Anti-Imperialist Organizations of the Caribbean and Central America collective in the 1980s. Godfried was the director of the Caribbean desk at Radio Havana Cuba and also contributed to Radio Progreso, Radio Rebelde, and Radio Taíno. Curaçao
Curaçao, officially the Country of Curaçao, is a constituent island country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, located in the southern Caribbean Sea (specifically the Dutch Caribbean region), about north of Venezuela. Curaçao includes the main island of Curaçao and the much smaller, uninhabited island of Klein Curaçao ("Little Curaçao"). Radio Taíno
Radio Taíno is a Cuban Spanish language radio station and is the tourism radio station of Cuba, broadcasts 24 hours a day from Radio Center Havana. History and details The station was founded on November 3, 1985 and was popularly known as "Cuba's tourist station", with content aimed at foreign visitors who came to the country as tourists, diplomatic missions and businesses. Already in the 1990s of the twentieth century, Radio Taíno's programming modernized its style and to guarantee a wider coverage they decided that the English language should be present. Willemstad
Willemstad ( ; ; ; ) is the capital city, capital and largest city of Curaçao, an island in the southern Caribbean Sea that is a Countries of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It was the capital of the Netherlands Antilles prior to that entity's Dissolution of the Netherlands Antilles, dissolution in 2010. Radio Rebelde
Radio Rebelde (English: Rebel Radio) is a Cuban Spanish-language radio station. It broadcasts 24 hours a day with a varied program of national and international music hits of the moment, news reports and live sport events. The station was set up in 1958 by Che Guevara in the Sierra Maestra region of eastern Cuba, and was designed to broadcast the aims of the 26th of July Movement led by Fidel Castro. Transmitting on short-wave, Radio Rebelde also broadcast the latest combat news, music and spoken literature to the people of Cuba during the Cuban Revolution. A political movement is a collective attempt by a group of people to change government policy or social values. Political movements are usually in opposition to an element of the status quo, and are often associated with a certain ideology.
