Eugenio González Astudillo, also known as "El Pingüino", is a Chilean politician and lobbyist of the Socialist Party of Chile. In the 1980s during the Pinochet dictatorship he worked as political scientist for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. González is known for being a high-level dealmaker and has close links with influential politicians such as Adolfo Zaldívar, Camilo Escalona, Alejandro Navarro and Guido Girardi. An authoritarian military dictatorship ruled Chile for seventeen years, between 11 September 1973 and 11 March 1990. The dictatorship was established after the democratically elected socialist government of Salvador Allende was overthrown in a coup d'état backed by the United States on 11 September 1973. Adolfo Zaldívar
Miguel Adolfo Gerardo Zaldívar Larraín (September 13, 1943 – February 27, 2013) was a Chilean politician and lawyer. He was senator for Aisén and from March 2008 until his death in February 2013 he had been President of the Chilean Senate. He was an historic member of the Christian Democratic Party, leading its right-wing faction until his expulsion from the political party in December 2007. Alejandro Navarro Brain (born 20 November 1958) is a Chilean politician who has served as a member of Parliament for the Bío-Bío Region since 1994. First as Deputy and since 2006 as Senator, in 2009 founded the Broad Social Movement (MAS in Spanish), same year that he ran for the President of the Republic post. His partner is Ana Garcia Sciaraffia and has five children. He later left MAS to form País. Guido Girardi Lavín (born 24 January 1961) is a Chilean doctor and politician. He was a senator in district no. 7 for Santiago Poniente. He previously served as the president of that chamber. He usually takes progressive stances on social issues, such as defense of the environment and a critical stance against private healthcare. He has also been involved in several controversies in Chile. He agitated a legal and social polemic for filing a complaint in November 2008 against two police officers who allegedly "disrespected" the senator while writing him a speeding ticket. Both officers were retired from the police. Fernando Villegas Luna (born 28 June 1998) is a Mexican professional baseball outfielder for the Saraperos de Saltillo of the Mexican League. Felipe Harboe Bascuñán (born 20 July 1972 in Eindhoven, Netherlands) is a Dutch-born Chilean politician from the Party for Democracy and current Senator in Congress.
