Eugene Kandel
Eugene evgenyKandel (born in 1959, Moscow) is an Israeli economist, the CEO of the Start-Up Nation Central, and an Emil Spyer Professor of Economics and Finance at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Biography Eugene Kandel is the older of two sons of Felix Kandel, one of the authors of the highly-popular Soviet-era animated series Nu, pogodi!. Kandel holds a BA and an MA from the Hebrew University, and an MBA and a PhD from the Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago. Academic and civic career From 1989 to 1997 Kandel was a professor of economics at the William Simon Graduate School of Business at the University of Riocheter. Since 1997 he is a professor of Economics and Finance at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Kandel was actively involved in the 1997 redesign of the Nasdaq trading rules. Felix Kandel
Feliks Solomonovich Kandel (russian: Фéликс Соломóнович Кáндель; born 21 October 1932) is a Russian Jewish writer, residing in Jerusalem, Israel. Early life He was born in 1932 in Moscow, Soviet Union to a Jewish family. In 1941 his mother and he were evacuated to Ural mountains, where they remained till 1944. In 1950 he was admitted to the Moscow Aeronautic Institute, and graduated with an engineering degree in 1955. During his studies he and a classmate started writing sketches and directing institute amateur performances. They quickly assembled a group of students around them, and continued to write for them after graduation. Between 1955 and 1962 Kandel was designing missile engines for the Soviet military. At the same time he continued writing, under the pseudonym "Felix Kamov", mostly short stories and sketches for stand-up comedy. ''Well, Just You Wait!'' (russian: Ну, погоди!, Nu, pogodi!, p=ˈnu pəɡɐˈdʲi) is a Soviet, later Russian, series of animated short films produced by Soyuzmultfilm. In the 2014 all-Russian poll, ''Well, Just You Wait!'' won by a wide margin as people's favorite cartoon/animated series of all time. The most recent episode was produced in 2006. The series follows the comical adventures of Wolf (), trying to catch – and presumably eat – Hare (). It features additional characters that usually either help the hare or interfere with the Wolf's plans. The original film language is Russian, but very little speech is used, usually interjections or at most several sentences per episode.
